Hello and welcome! This email list, big-harmonica, is dedicated to discussion of all harmonicas which are bigger than most. The focus here is on tremolo, bass, octave, orchestral, and other harmonicas, some of which are physically very large, and others which are usually or commonly played with two simultaneous reeds per note.
All of these instruments lend themselves well to ensemble and accompanist work, unlike their more common cousins. We hope to learn much about them and their applications on big-harmonica.
When multiple ten/twelvers or other nonbig harmonicas are secured together and played as one, the combination is considered a hybrid, which discussion is very much wanted here! Slideless chromatics are also considered hybrids, and discussion of them is also very much wanted here. Prolonged discussion of typical play of ten-holers, twelve-holers, and simple slide chromatics will be referred to other lists, though some discussion is not unexpected.
Short-term discussions on any generally nonoffensive topic is encouraged. Prolonged nasty behavior, and/or pure spamming, will not be tolerated at all.
