Actually, the next Bigboote drummer MIGHT be a robot.
Jason and I have discussed this.
Re: Rock history, I though there were a few more
post-s in it. Isn't it post-Elvis, post-Beatles,
post-Sex Pistols, post-Nirvana. Hip-hop would be a
separate chronology. I don't claim to know that well,
but maybe something like post-James Brown, post-Run
DMC, post-NWA, post-I don't know.
I can tell you, that video where Run DMC goes to an
at-that-time-imaginary rock and roll museum, and
trashes the place, is one of the most exciting and
punk rock things I've seen! Burn down the rock and
roll hall of fame! Make way for the new school. Retro
must die!
Other bands which are clearly rock and roll, but also
really good are High on Fire, Turbonegro, Rocket From
the Crypt. RTX, Jennifer from Royal Trux's new band.
Frank Black and the Catholics.
There are very few rock bands though who really tear
shit up. I mean like MC5 kind of tearing shit up. Only
hardcore or noise bands do that now. Wolf Eyes are the
new bad asses. They're the ones signing to Sub Pop and
taking full beer cans to the face opening for Sonic
Youth, with crowds who hate them and getting into
fights with their audiences. I'm just a trouble-maker
and a punk, that kind of stuff is exciting to me.
Hey, what's the craziest thing you've ever seen a band
do at a show? (Or heard of)
