Yes of course you can cop the story. Here it is below. DO INDEED correct if
this is wrong. It's just from a lovely character on a mailing list I'm on. We
talk about The Church and related stuff, but, heck, that ol' thing about Chinese
Whispers or whatever it is. So feel free to correct if necessary. I'll pass it
on.
Coupla bits to add:
1) I'm making music at the carrillon, 53 bells with me wailing. Stay tooned.
2) Thank you for supporting me. It means more than you will ever know.
3) Phil is fine, relatively rehab-ed, he gives you vibes.
4) Who's that bass player from Chicago Transit Authority that you so admired
back in the day?
5) Your book is fuckin' ace. Thank you.

Oh and something else that may give you a chuckle because I am
pishing meself about it. Steve Kilbey wrote in his blog from Europe -
he bought a new set of speakers for his iPod. He checks into room
in Eastern Europe and he plugs it and nothing. It dont work. He was
a bit strung out from not having spliff for a bit so in a move of
pure frustration and temper he smashed the speakers into a million
bits! The folk at the hotel then kindly reminded him that you have
to put the plastic card in the socket near the front door to make

Interesting matter you raise Porly. I was at an Augie March show a couple of
weeks ago (I have a big crush on Glen Richards, James, so would gladly help
relieve wankers hand cramp) and the show for me was absoloutely tops. I see
simalarities between March and Wilc and I think it's that big swirly band
feeling, that makes me want to dance and twirl and I feel like the world (and my
sucky job) is not so bad. They are all brilliant musicians and things just synch
bloody well on stage. Then I read a reveiw in Time Off or Rave of the exact same
gig and the reviewer gave it a thumbs down. They probably were hanging out for
Beyonce or something. Also what worked for me at Wilco was that I was right up
against the barrier (in front of stage left Bek look a like) and had lots of
little smiles with all of them which was nice. JT even did some crazy little
dance steps. He was chatty at our show too and quite funny.
Anyway, who can explain? If it feels good, it is good!
Luv youse
Susan

On a completely different matter and this may stir your memory but
VH1 is playing a lot of old Countdown shows at the moment. Last week
they had the one with XTC doing Generals and Majors. The camera was
focussed on the lead guy (Andy Partridge???) ready to sing but they
had the bass player mime the whole song. It was great noticing the
camera work which was all very "WTF is going on???!!!"

Ok, I just made a big fat liar of myself. I though Hate it here was an old song,
just looked on their web page and it's on the new album. Thought I'd heard it
before. Sorry.
I only had 1 scotch and dry but sometimes 1 is enough.

Aye, I'd root Holly Throsby but she wouldnt be allowed to sing. Esp
in that annoying kiddy whisper voice she uses.
Failure et al are noisey peoples from the 90's. Dont worry Jo, Wilco
are coming. I know how much you are looking forward to that.
