Hi all,
Here's what my friend Tom Noe has to say about the 3rd Wylie
Folk Festival to be held this Sunday, November 5 at the Home
for Wayward Women, Musician's Rest and Wildlife Refuge
(otherwise known as Tom's house in the country):
-----------------------------
Our next show will be the great Wylie Folk Fest, on Nov. 5, at 1PM. It
resumes a tradition begun about 12 years ago, and is the third event to
be so titled. It will celebrate birthdays for myself and Linda, as well
as our fifth anniversary. It's incredible songwriter lineup includes:
2:00 Bill Nash
2:30 Ray & Melody Dodd
3:00 Ladonna Goetz
3:30 Kirk Edens
4:00 Emilie Aronson
4:30 Wayne Greene
5:00 Alan Gann
5:30 Lynn Adler
6:00 Lindy Hearne
6:30 Ann Armstrong & Steve Hughes
7:00 Dessert & Coffee around the Campfire
7:30 Campfire picking circle
Is that some serious talent or what? These folks represent the best of
Dallas and Fort Worth, cities blessed so many fine musicians. We are
fortunate to also have them as friends.
This is a Sunday afternoon show, outdoors if the weather permits. (I
hope it does, because we think over a hundred people should turn out for
such a lineup, and our living room would be really tight)
Donations will be accepted (suggested $10 per) so we can pay these
wonderful musicians. We will start at 1PM with a potluck dinner.
Performances will run from 2PM until around 7 on the outdoor stage in
the evergreen grove behind the house. A picking circle around the
campfire will follow.
So tell your friends and bring them along. Also bring a lawn chair, a
dish for the pot luck, an instrument (or just ears) for the song circle,
and join us for the biggest and best folk festival in Wylie Texas in
many years!
----------------------------------
As Tom says, this is going to be a very special day, filled with many
thrills and superb moments, and I get to open the show! Love to see
you all out there, and it's easy to get to... just take Interstate 78 (Lavon
Parkway) north of the Dallas area, come through the three lights on 78
and drive about 2 miles after the third light, the house is on the left and
a "House Concert" sign should be hanging on the front gate. If you like
to get a map online, just map out the address 3040 Hwy 78, Wylie, TX,
or if you get lost, just call (972)442-5232 and ask Tom or Linda (or me)
how to get there... hope to see you all!!
Also, don't forget I will be performing the next Saturday (November 11)
with Emilie Aronson, LaDonna Goetz, Ross Wise, Julie McClain, and
Wayne Greene at Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse (NorthPark Presbyterian
Church, 9555 N Central Expressway [at Walnut Hill]) for the annual
Sierra Club Benefit, tickets are $10... another fun evening of local
songwriter
friends and songs you won't forget! See you down the road!!!
