Hey folks!
First off, tomorrow night (Thursday), for all of you
folks in Houston, I will be playing in Ken Gaines'
Songwriter's in the Round show at the venerable Houston
club Anderson Fair! It's very exciting to me to be
playing in such a well known haven for folk music, very
special to think I'll be on the same stage as so many
great songwriters have been in the past!!
Here's what Ken Gaines says about the show:
---------------
Hi Folks,
Our first 2 shows of the season have been absolutely magical
with great audiences and lots of sparks on-stage. Thanks to
all of you who caught these performances. This week promises
to be more of the same with features Jen Rathbun & Bill Nash
along with Wayne Wilkerson and guest host Bill Ward. (I'll
be in Plano giving my stepdaughter away in marriage to one
hell of a sharp young man. Yes, I'll cry.)
I've been listening to the elegant songs of Bill Nash for
a long time now. He's one of those generous spirits that
you can't forget. He hails from the Dallas area and is
very active in the DFW singer/songwriter scene. It's high
time we got him down here at Anderson Fair!
Jen Rathbun showed up on my radar about a year ago. Not your
normal sensitive singer/songwriter Jen hails from right here
in Houston. Her flashing eyes, whimsical keyboard, and
wickedly funny songs always add variety to the night. Yeah,
she has a serious bone or 2 in her body as well.
How many of you haven't heard Bill Ward? There's no one in
this town who has it all in such marvelous portions. A
consummate writer & performer, Bill is a multi
-instrumentalist, a whiz in his own studio (he recorded
and co-produced my CD, "Real Men"), and my very good friend.
I know he and Wayne will be creating sparks and swapping
licks all night long.
All of this at Anderson Fair http://www.andersonfair.com
Houston's oldest and best listening room. We're located
right next to Texas Art Supply on Montrose between West
Gray and Fairview. Turn east on Welch and we're right in
front of you. Doors open at 8 PM, music starts between
8:30 and 9. Cover is $5.
Bring 10 of your best friends and have fun without me.
Love,
Ken
---------------
Also, for you folks in Dallas, I will be opening the show
at Alexander's Hideaway for my dear friend Annie Benjamin,
who will impress you with the depth of her musical abilities
and the voice you can't forget... check out the details at
http://www.alexandershideaway.org/ I think for this show
I'm going to do almost all covers, and maybe some Harry
Chapin, too!
Alexander's Hideaway is located in the basement of the East
Dallas Christian Church, 629 N Peak St (at Junius), downtown
Dallas, the show starts at 7 PM, hope to see you there!

Hey everyone,
First, the news:
It's been a magical, mysterious time the past month or so,
starting with the totally unexpected opportunity to perform
on the main stage of the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival a
couple of weeks ago! It was me and fellow song-schoolers
Christopher Smith, Stephanie Corby, and Jenny Bruce doing a
song-writer's in the round hour at 10:30 in the morning on
Sunday, and I couldn't have enjoyed it more than I did!! I
played as well as I could expect and even got to sing my
"Colorado" song to a Colorado audience!!! All in all, I
won't forget it soon....... :)
Then I got to MC the August 22 show at Calvins in a benefit
show for my dear friend and fellow volunteer Jim Ross who
died of a heart attack one night while helping clean up
Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse, and the benefit netted about
$2100 in donations, which will go a long way to purchasing
some defibrulator paddles for the coffeehouse so we may never
feel so powerless again!
Last weekend was the third Southwest Folk Alliance Conference,
and Camp NashBill was in full swing, with about 20 performers
playing in Patty and my room till all hours of the night, it
was great to get to hear/see all of my favorite southwest
performers... it's like spending time with your tribe!
Now, for what's next:
I am opening this Saturday night for Rich Prezioso and
Jacquie Manning (better known as "Small Potatoes"!) at
the Open Door Coffeehouse in Arlington. This is very
special to me because Rich was my hands two years ago
when, during an MS exacerbation I had lost the ability to
play the guitar, and he went into the studio for me and
recorded my guitar parts (only in the style of a master
guitarist, which he is!) for "When I Was in Love"! This
is a special duo and I am honored to be playing with them
this night!
Here's the details:
Open Door Coffeehouse

September 13, 2003 Small Potatoes plan on joining us for
the evening. "It's exciting music -- so exciting, I'll pay
to see them. Their music is diverse. Their show is
well-paced and has depth and humor. But first and foremost,
they are excellent musicians." --Laura Hill Vasilion,
Chicago Tribune. Bill Nash opens the show at 7 PM.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and the evening
benefits The Bridge Shelter for Adolescents.
The Open Door Coffee House is held in Trinity Hall in Trinity United Methodist
Church. Trinity UMC is located at 3321 W. Park Row in Arlington, Texas. Put

This is going to be a great evening, come on out and
experience this one! Rich and Jacquie are the tops... hope
to see you there!!

I will be doing in the next few weeks, and some info on
Eric Folkerth's show this Thursday... here's the scoop:

This should be a great show. My friends, Rick O'Connor and

gonna love what they add to the songs. This will be a special
treat to have them!

Hey all,
I just wanted to tell you all (if I don't get to see
you before then) to have a happy holiday! It's been
a great year for me and many of you are among the
biggest reasons why... it's been great to see you out
at the gigs!
BTW, if you haven't heard, in this past Sunday paper
there was an article about house concerts in the Dallas
Morning News, and guess who got their picture on the
front page of the paper...? ME!! What a lovely surprise
and a heck of a Christmas gift... the picture has me and
the 16 month old Emily McAdams (Linda Silas in the
background) with little Emily getting a feel of how the
strings feel when you grab them and the guitarist continues
to make noise! It was a special moment, since I was making
up a "I am a 16 month old..." song on the fly at the time,
way cool! My mom's going to have a cow when she finds out
I was in the paper (she still expects me to show up any
night on the "Carson Show" ... :)
Anyway, have a fine 2003, I'll hope to see you down the
road!!

Hey all,
Here's my next gig, this Saturday at Gloria Dei Nights!,
located in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church at 1333 Beltline,
Garland, TX. I love this venue (this will be the 3rd time
I have played there!), and will be very happy to introduce
folks to my friend Damaris from Austin, who is opening!
And BTW, for those of you debating whether to go see Chuck
Pyle at the Wylie house concert that night or come to
Gloria Dei... I love Chuck, and can understand why you might
want to go see him (he's great!), but remember he is
scheduled to play at Uncle Calvin's Coffeehouse on January 31
(next month), so you could come out and catch me in a whole
show and still see Chuck next month! :) (Sorry to compete
with your concert, Tom and Linda, but it's a dog-eat-dog
world out there, and I don't play that many full gigs! ;)
I'd love to see you all out there!!

------------------
As for "Carpe Piscum - Seize the Fish", I am again
tentatively announcing the release date in February 2003,
barring any more unforseen physical setbacks for me and
this body of mine... for those unaware, the last year has
been the most difficult year for me and my multiple
sclerosis, as I have had a few emergency room visits and
now use a scooter at work, which hopefully will help me
with my energy level and allow me to finish this recording
project! For those who already bought the CD, they will
be in your mailbox first thing I finish with it!! :)
--------------
Hope to see you at a gig, drop me a line if you get the
urge, I love hearing from everybody! If you want to be
dropped off this list, just let me know and it will be
done...

Hey folks,
Here's what Malvina's website has to say about
our upcoming show this Saturday:
------------------
See the new year off to a good start. DON'T MISS THIS!
Featuring Acoustic Music from musicians, singers and
songwriters of NATIONAL STATURE:
Songwriters in the Round
Emilie Aronson -The first thing people notice about
Emilie is her voice: clear, stong, eloquent and
emotional. The second is her songs: whimsical,
heartbreaking, uplifting and extremely entertaining.
LaDonna Goetz - is a songwriter with a lush,
beautifully alto voice, once dubbed "The Voice" by
Phillip Wuntch of the Dallas Morning News. Her shows
are a celebration of life, love and the joy that good
music can bring.
Wayne Greene - ads an element of dry, esoteric humor
to his eclectic mix of folk, pop, swing, country and
cajun styles.
Bill Nash - his songs of life and relationships and
the journey into ones own soul will stick in your head
and have you singing bits of them after the evening is
over.
Opener - Mike and Bonnie Cruciger - you will enjoy this
father and daughter duo who perform traditional
folk/bluegrass music on 5 string banjo, mandolin and
guitar with beautiful vocal harmonies.
-----------------------
Should be a fun time, show runs from 8 to 11 PM, $8.
Horizon Unitarian Universalists Church is on Hebron
Parkway (544) just east of the Vista Ridge Mall in
Carrollton, see the map at:

Hey everyone!
I have a fun show coming up with my friend Cary Odom
this Saturday, and it's going to be a very fun evening!
Here's what the folks at Gloria Dei Nights have to
say about us and the show:
-------------------------------------------
Bill Nash and Cary Odom Live at Gloria Dei Nights Coffeehouse!
Saturday night, December 1, 2001
Gloria Dei Coffee Haus
1333 Beltline Rd - one block East of the Garland Road intersection.
Doors open at 6:30 pm with the shows running from 7 pm
to 9:45 pm. There is a requested $5 donation at the
door with proceeds going towards charitable
organizations in and around the Garland area.
December 1st, featuring Bill Nash and Cary Odom. Both
long time, dedicated volunteers at Uncle Calvins. They
are also very talented singer/songwriters in their own
right.
Bill Nash has two recordings of his work which run from
zany and witty to insightful and thought provoking. It
is a rare treat to catch Bill live and in person.
Cary Odom a gifted singer/songwriter, who comes across
with a clear pure voice that highlights the depth and
magnitude of her songs. Her tales of flat-bed trucks to
loves won and lost will transport you through her inner
world of lyric bliss. Cary is currently finishing up
her debut CD which is being produced by Tom Prasada-Rao.
Opener:
Opening this show will be long time members of the Lone
Star State Dulcimer Society, David Moran and Joe Morgan.
David and Joe teamed up over five years ago and the
world of hammered dulcimer and guitar music has never
been the same. They are featured performers and
teachers at festivals across the country.
David Moran was and still is the youngest person to
ever win the National Hammered Dulcimer Championship
at the age of fifteen. Joe Morgan is an accomplished
flat-picking and traditional guitar player. He is
also proficient on banjo, mandolin, hammered dulcimer
and others. Joe is also co-organizer of the Winter
Festival of Acoustic Music held each year in Irving,
Tx.

going to be a rip-roaring time! Also, coming in

I'm really excited about this weekend and another chance to share the stage with 3 dear Dallasite friends of mine (Emilie Aronson, Wayne Greene, and LaDonna Goetz) in an old fashioned round
at a relatively new club called Infusions in McKinney, 8:00 PM!
Singing with these ladies and gent is always special, and if you've
never seen us in a round, it is something special, with us feeding
off of each other's songs and harmonies... I love these type of shows... there is something special being with musical folks I've
known for years!! Emilie Aronson and her angelic voice and rough
wit, Wayne Greene will make you think you've just dropped off a boat into the deepest Bayou, LaDonna Goetz and her love songs
that will make your toes curl, and me... it's going to be another good slice of music again!
Dallas Songwriter's Tour with Emilie Aronson, Wayne Greene, LaDonna Goetz and Bill Nash at Infusions Coffeehouse
201 E Virginia, McKinney, TX, 8:00 PM (469)235-4221
I hope you can come out and catch some live music this night,
we love to play to big houses (oh, what am I saying, we love to play in our living rooms, too :) and we especially like new venues!
And you might get a chance to see me do some karaoke... I have
recently had some trouble playing the guitar because of an MS exacerbation (it's almost done with, but still some numbness),
and my engineer and I went back to the old tapes and made some guitar only CDs so that I could still perform my songs (just in case the hands don't cooperate) through a boom box! It's kind of
fun and different, and yes, I did record all these original guitar parts, so it's not like I'm being Milli Vanilli or anything like that. :)
I will be playing guitar this night, though my current condition leaves
out some of my more intricate guitar parts, but there's still a lot I can do... come out and see for yourself! The coffeehouse is on the square in McKinney, not too far!!
Take care and I will see you all soon!

their new CDs, and some old favorites as well. The show will range

Hi there...
I had a great time opening for Ruthie Foster
this past weekend, nice to meet the friendly
folks at the Open Door Coffeehouse in Arlington!
This is my very busy weekend coming up... I have
2 gigs and a songwriter's workshop this weekend,
here's the details:
3/16 Opening for Johnsmith at Live Oak Coffeehouse
in Austin. John is a good friend and I've been
looking forward to this show for quite some time!
It's also my first real gig in Austin, for more
info go to: http://www.liveoakuu.org/coffee/
Doors open at 7:00 PM, my set at 7:30 PM ($8)
3/17 Opening for Jack Hardy at Roland's Next Door,
102 S Ragsdale in Jacksonville, TX. Jack is, in
my opinion, one of the finest songwriter's in the
world, and this is a great honor! ($6)
3/18 Songwriter's Workshop at Starbucks on Greenville
south of Mockingbird, come share a song or just
listen! (1:30 PM)
Then, later on this month, the Uncle Calvin's
Coffeehouse show has turned into a bonified night,
shared with my dear friends Julie McClain and Ross
Wise! We're going to do 2 long sets of our music in
the round (song swap for 3), it should be a lot of
fun!! ($10), Dallas, TX http://www.unclecalvins.org/
The new CD is called "Carpe Piscum (Seize the Fish)"
and will feature 15 more of my original songs...
looks like the due date will be late April.
Hope to see you all soon! Take care...

Hey everybody!
I just wanted to let you know about an opener I have
scheduled for this week at the Open Door Coffeehouse
in Arlington, TX for Saturday night! I am opening for
my dear friend Ruthie Foster (and Cyd Cassone), one of
the most dynamic voices on the music scene these days!
Hope you can come out to Arlington for this show... I'm
certainly looking forward to it!! Here's what the Open
Door Coffeehouse people say about Ruthie:
------------------
Her songs contain elements of blues, gospel, country
and folk that give color and texture to her vocal work
and fill those who hear her music with great joy.
Ruthie's strong, vibrant voice and her easy, friendly
manner instantly charm audiences of all ages. She's
agreed to visit us before her spring tour begins. It
includes the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and the
Kennedy Center.
Honestly, I was so excited when we were able to work
out a visit to the Open Door. She's a truly gifted
performer.
Bill Nash is an Uncle Calvin's regular. He combines
great songwriting with a smooth, easy voice. We are
pleased to welcome him to our stage.
We offer coffee, a wide selection of tea, soft drinks
and desserts. Our venue is non-smoking and alcohol
free. Doors open at 6:45 pm, show begins at 7:00pm.
