"Hello?, is this thing on? Testing, testing, can anyone hear me?
Wait, what's this? <click> Ah, that's better."

And so begins what future historians will one day refer to as "Chuck
Bird's time running the Permanent Flame web site". For those who
might have missed it, Mark Rushton has retired from his post as
Webmaster after six wonderful years. i think i can speak for all when
i thank Mark for the work he's done. Like a lot of you i went to a
search engine the first day i got web access and looked up "Bill
Nelson" to find Mark's handiwork. Over the years he has kept us
well-informed as to what's going on in Bill's life.

Mark also initiated the MP3 releases at MP3.com, the marketing of
shirts, mugs, and mouse pads, he kept up the diary after DGM wanted
to drop it, and on and on. Let's all raise a glass to Mark this
weekend and thank him (at least in spirit) for all he did for us.

"What's going to change?" How about blinking text, flourescent
colours, grey text on white backgrounds, dancing hamsters, and a
change from a discussion board to a wild rumour board? Sound good?

i didn't think you'd want that. i don't have any plans for any great
changes. i like all the work that Mark has gone through getting this
site up and running and i think the format Mark uses to present this
information is in pretty good. Why mess with success?

i don't have any real news to impart at this time, just wanted to say
hello and let you know i'm here. Contact information for me is
available via the following:

Email: webmaster@...
Fax: 630-637-9589 (UK fax number coming)
Mailing address:
Chuck Bird
PO Box 5976
Naperville, IL 60567-5976
USA

That's it for now, i hope that i can keep the high standard of work
that Mark set up.

Till next time,
Chuck Bird

PS-i want to take a quick moment to make this announcemeng: The
Ordinary Idiots will be meeting at Tilley's around 6.30 on Saturday,
November 10 for "The Great Bird Rehydration Party". All So-Cal
Nelsonians are welcome to attend. To find out more information
(location, contact numbers, etc.) go to
http://www.pajarito.net/party. We hope to see you all there.
