Hey, Salon.com did a "three questions" with Billy:

http://www.salon.com/ent/audiofile/2006/03/21/3q4_bragg/index.html

You may have to look at an ad to get to the piece.

Hi Mike,

If you look at the frightened response of the Dems to
the perfectly reasonable idea of censure by Russ
Feingold, you'll see that I was right all along, both
parties suck eggs. And nobody could have predicted
Bush.

Nice to hear from you!

Never surrender,

Barbara

Hello everybody,

Boy oh boy. I never check my yahoo address, I did
tonight and found 238 messages on it! I really need to
keep it up.

The US part of the tour is over, and wasn't it great?
Even though Billy was sick through most of it (you can
hear the worst of it on the excellent Somerville boot)
he seemed to be having as much fun as the rest of us.
It was classic Bragg, funny political a little horny
solid.

Stephen Walker, did you co-write that song?

You might all know that the Rachel Corrie song is
available on the Guardian UK website. Billy recorded
an Acoustic Cafe while in Michigan, the Bush War Blues
is a result of that session as well as Rachel Corrie.
Check their site for air time.

Yes, Sumi Jenner was Peter's wife and Billy's
co-manager. I got to meet and hang with her a couple
of times and she was the original rock chick. Also
brave as a lion. She fought breast cancer for a very
long time and nearly beat the motherfucker.

My life is the same. Bob is rolling his eyes at the
site of me writing to the list, I still spend wayy too
much time on my computer. Just not enough time here. I
need to change my address from the Yahoo one, as I
said, I never look here.

Yeah yeah, Wilson Picket. We're losing the great ones.
The local word is Levi Stubbs is not doing well at all
(stroke, prostate cancer). Which reminds me, did
anybody else come across the free font called "Levi
Stubbs Tears" by dinc? Part of a series of rock
song-inspired fonts. For Mac of course!

I have some photos of the Ann Arbor show I am going to
send to the website when I can get under a load of
work and take a week of vacation. Not great photos,
I'm on record for disliking the Ark intensely, it's
fucking backward. I paid extra money so I could sit in
the back of the theater. But okay. And I did get a
nice chunk of face time - I can tell you he's
passionate about the book he wrote, and the cover will
be excellent.

Onward and upward.

Barbara

Yesterday BBC Radio 2 broadcast a 1 hour show about the miners strike
which featured Billy Bragg. If anyone missed this show you can
listen to it again by clicking on the link below -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio2_aod....adio2/r2_miners

BRASSED OFF - THE MINERS' STRIKE AND BEYOND
Tuesday 28 February
20:30-21:30
The miners' strike of 1984-85 ended in failure for the miners almost
exactly 12 months after it had begun. In this programme Kirsty Young
marks the 21st anniversary of the end of the longest and one of the
most bitter industrial disputes in British history.

Thank you SO much for that bit of information!!! So, as it
turns out, I am going to the Monday night Birchmere show in addition
to begging for money to maintain listerner supported radio on Sunday
night. And in case you were wondering. we do play Uncle Bill's stuff
on our station. It's mostly played earlier in the day (with the
acoustic morning show and the adult alternative mid-day shifts) or
during our 'retro' show on Sundays.

That being said, I may still head up to Philly on Saturday. ;-)

Hey all. Long time.

I was just reading about the near-demise of this list (for the 10th time since
I've been here) and got to thinking about past debates.

I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts regarding Bush/Gore and Bush/Kerry. I
recall a lot of people here voted (or would have voted) Green party (or another
party), their reasoning being that all mainstream candidates (read:
Dems/Repubs) are all alike. I'm guessing that no one still thinks that to be
the case.

Also, how much worse is George Bush than anyone could have imagined?

Unreal.

And of course for the Braggmeister 'down under' means Sydney and Melbourne as

Hi,

With BB touring the UK up until June and with a US tour some time
after that what are the chances or a OZ tour in 06?

A question for Mark Warner - Mark are you in Melbourne, Sydney or
somewhere else?

Graham

Hi Pete

Don't worry the list will not shut down any time soon.

Hey, this is a bleedin' institution in Braggland, if a somewhat quiet one
   over the past few years...

It should certainly carry on, and I'm happy to help out too.

Top job for carrying it this far, Sam.

   Pete

Thanks, Graham. This list has been a part of my life -- if somewhat
'decreasingly' -- since 1996, and who knows when it may again become a
lively forum for some important and useful disscussion of pop & politics.

Graham,

Thanks for taking over! I've been on this list (in one form
or another) for about 10 (!!!) years. Just can't do the message
boards the same way. And Sam, thank you for handling the list for
the previous years.

          Happy New Year!

Steph

Thanks for taking this on. Some BB news-- SF gate has included the 2/21 box
set/re-release as its best of 2006
(http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/gate/archive/2005/12/29/derk122\
