This is a rare chance to catch LUBRICATED GOAT live, at EUROPA in
Brooklyn on December 18.

Since its depraved and characteristically ugly Australian birthing in
1986, Stu Spasm's Lubricated Goat has remained a thorn in the side of
decency. Stu has worn the devil's red cloak proudly, through a
revolving door of musical confederates, trans-Pacific moves, bizarre
and unrepentant television nudity, a celebrated underground rock
marriage and divorce, six albums, countless tours, even a stabbing.
His vision remains unchanged. Truly, the bastard can play the guitar.

You can help us continue to have a Rubulad in this space by being
quiet coming and going, staying inside the space during the event and
not pissing all over the sidewalk as soon as you get around the corner
– which, incidentally, does attract the police and they will write you
a summons.

The less our neighbors have to complain about, the more fun we can have.

TONIGHT - I'll be playing with ELVIRA BIRA
A Swedish UKULELE PUNK ROCK band!
Live at the UKULELE FESTIVAL
at the THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY
Friday, April 4 • Doors open 7pm for concerts
155 First Avenue (corner of East 10th Street) • New York City •
http://www.nyukefest.com/
Elvira Bira set is around 9:15, but come check out all the bands
playing tonight! The festival is happening all weekend so join the fun!
FREE SAM ADAMS BEER ALL NIGHT!!!!

Then Sunday....
We'll also be playing in Staten Island at Theo Dorian and Gabri
Christa's monthly salon, First Week in St. George, at an amazing
historical house by Edward Alfred Sargent in the St. George/New
Brighton Historic District at 103 St. Mark's Place. This monthly
series kicked off in January with Vernon Reid and last month featured
an original play by the Foundry Theater. We'll be rocking the
118-year-old gem till it shakes and nearly breaks, at (time here-- say
7 or 8.) Snacks and drinks!

DIRECTIONS:

PUBLIC TRANSIT: Take the Staten Island Ferry (boats are free and leave
every half hour), get off the boat, turn right along the waterfront
and walk past the stadium to Hamilton Ave. or Nicholas Ave., walk up
the hill to St. Mark's Place, turn right, and find 103. To avoid the
15-minute walk, take the S42 bus, which only meets ferries that leave
on the 1/2 hour, and ask to be dropped at St. Mark's and Nicholas.

BY CAR: Take the Verazzano Bridge, lower roadway if possible, and get
out at first exit, Bay St. (If you miss it, take Fingerboard Rd. or
Hylan Blvd. to Bay St.) Turn left, go about 2.5 miles, past the ferry,
to Hamilton Ave. Turn left. At top of hill, turn right on St. Mark's
Place and look for 103.

This is the first tour of ELVIRA BIRA in the united States so don't
miss!!!

Upcoming: JULIET ECHO in Boston on April 19th- stay tuned!

The Hungry March Band is making its first trek to the left coast for
an important brass band festival -
THE HONK FEST WEST this month
http://www.honkfestwest.com

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please go to our online donation form to help:
http://www.bloodyrich.net/donate.html

The North American activist street band scene has really exploded
since the legendary Infernal Noise Brigade did their thing at the WTO
meetings in Seattle back in 1999, and Honk West will be a chance for a
bunch of these bands to have a summit meeting of their own. Inspired
by the east coast Honk Festival (http://www.honkfest.org/) in Boston, this will
be a chance for more than a dozen bands to play together, share music
and experience, form new alliances, and rock the streets! We're not
sure if demonstrators wearing suits and ties (the Bureaucrat Bloc)
will be smashing the symbolic windows of international
counter-hegemonic brassaphilia– that might be a few years down the
road! – but we are certain that the spirit of autonomous, oppositional
joyous musical production with a funky beat will be bolstered by this
weekend, and will spread in a thousand directions thereafter. That's
why it's important that the Hungry March Band, Brooklyn's
international ambassadors of autonomous street-band conspiracy, is
there to represent!

Since this is a new festival, the funds for band travel are very
limited. We're one of the only east coast bands going, and the only
band from New York! It's costing each of us out of our own pocket to
get out there. So....

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please go to our online donation form to help:
bloodyrich.net/donate.html

These funds will help us cover airfare & transportation.

small print: Donations made on the main donation page are not tax
deductible. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A LARGE DONATION, AND NEED TO BE ABLE
TO DEDUCT IT ON YOUR TAXES, USE THIS FORM:
http://www.filmforum.org/sponsorshiphmb.html

We have made an arrangement with Film Forum, a not-for-profit arts sponsoring
organization, which allows us to receive tax deductible donations, however we
lose 5%, so please only use this for larger donations.

What's Love Got To Do With It?
Throw your heart on the floor and take love off the shelf. Pranks and
riotous debauchery of mythological proportions (over 40 performers!)
are guaranteed at this anti-Valentine bash. We aim to dissolve the
overly commercialized holiday, laden with unrealistic expectations,
with a soirée to puncture your heart and lead you to willingly commit
acts of absurdity.

Hosted by NYC's Kingpin of vocal perversity, ZeroBoy will lead us into
lechery! There will be two scorching sets by the irresistible Hungry
March Band to seduce you to dance in ecstatic frenzy. This Ambitious
Orchestra brings us an ephemeral orgy of lascivious spunk. Delectable
treats from the HMB's illicit Pleasure Society and Second Line. We
finish with a bang of fierceness from I Love You Airlines.

There will be vouchers redeemable for indulgences, sybarites and
buffoonery. The Pleasure Society will host a crafty table where you
lust monkeys can create etchings and prose for that sugar mama, chum,
paramour, dandy, frenemy, flame or momentary object of infatuation.

We encourage you to
-Make your own version of anti-Valentine cards to express your
sentiments; be they passionate, rude, adoring, dirty, sweet or nasty.
  Surprise us.
-Wear your wild party vixen finest to express your heart's desire.
Some suggestions: head to toe black, blood red, fluorescent pink,
wings, feathers, quiver & arrow, powder puff, bizarre lingerie,
leather, latex and dancing shoes.

Zero Boy
Performance artist, stand-up comic & "vocal acrobat" Zero Boy recounts
his zany adventures in Zeroland through a unique blend of sound and
mime, the results being something akin to a performed comic book.
Combining movement with live, vocally-produced sound effects, Zero Boy
enacts a parade of hilarious, fantastical characters that find
themselves in the most unlikely situations. www.zeroboy.com

This Ambitious Orchestra
This Ambitious Orchestra (20 members!) is New York's only ensemble
dedicated to bringing punk rock spunk back to classical music, and
virtuosity back to rock and roll. Our mission is to be the first
orchestra to play rock music AS rock music. TAO is a rock band with
the instrumentation of a symphonic orchestra. Besides our own original
songs, we've provided orchestral backing for other great artists we
really like. www.myspace.com/thisambitiousorchestra

I Love You Airlines
I Love You Airlines is PT Barnum's most opium-inspired kaleidoscopic
carousel, replete with 2000 chartreuse bells and sapphire whistles, 13
sousaphone blowing cheetahs and 1 accordion playing Ganesh...it's 3001
brass pipes bubbling and belching the symphony a caffeine-fueled Phil
Spector composed on the Mighty Wurlitzer that appeared in last night's
dream dreamt by Dali, dictated by Roald Dahl: the sonically-glimmering
soundtrack to a Post-modern filth fantasia

Hungry March Band
Roaring out of New York City comes the Hungry March Band; a blazing
parade of flesh, blood, steel, brass and wood. The HMB blows through
the city on the shoulder of chaos, veering among ecstatic rhythms and
torrential melodies. A band of both Main Street and side street,
equally likely to appear at parades, protests, parties, beaches,
subways, boardwalks and funerals. With four self-produced CD's, four
European tours, a multitude of musical interventions and a reputation
of creating cultural phenomenon, they are a force to be reckoned with.

***SPECIAL NOTE - From the Trombone Dept:
Friday, the ultimate Utopia. Squint your eyes tightly, clear the gunk
out of your ears and listen through the rumble of the city, and you'll
hear brass bands everywhere. Focus! Pull it into your
overconsciousness, grasp the tiny hairs connecting the disparate truck
horns and subway brakes and mirthy yelps and a thousand other voices,
and really listen! They're all over the place! Brass bands! The social
formula finally revealed, made magnificent, hallelu!

There's a good chance of hearing a fine one at the north side of Union
Square at the kick-off of Critical Mass, 7pm.

There's a good chance that riders on the F train sometime around 9pm
will be serenaded.

I wouldn't be surprised if that F train leaves a parade in its wake at
the York Street stop, squiggling its way through DUMBO to the art
labyrinth around Front and Jay, and setting up a permanent temporary
utopia at the Rebar, 147 Front Street, at 10 pm.

Beyond that, be prepared to expect everything, and nothing. Hooray!

DON'T FORGET- NEXT WEEKEND IS THE HONK! FESTIVAL!
HUNGRY MARCH BAND

Here's the press release...

Title: Seven Days of Utopia with the Hungry March Band

The Hungry March Band, New York City's legendary street brass band,
will celebrate the release of their latest CD in the anarchic style
that has become their trademark with a seven day, 23-minute series of
guerrilla style street hits of musical utopias. The band will play
songs from the CD, "Portable Soundtracks for Temporary Utopias,"
throughout the city culminating with a grand finale in the streets of
DUMBO and a huge brass blow out at Rebar, 147 Front Street on Friday,
September 28th at 10pm. The location and time of each top secret
"Temporary Utopian hit" will be announced the evening before via the
band's web site and email list. Check out
http://www.hungrymarchband.com for details.

The Hungry March Band has earned a reputation for mythical revelry
with a decade of mermaid parades, rural raves, subway parties,
eccentric weddings, processionals for punk rock patron saints, and
many other forays into the territories of the free spirit. They were
featured in the final scene of John Cameron Mitchell's recent film
"Shortbus," and provide that strong dose of aural libido that brings
us to that climatic moment of ecstasy when we desire it most.
"Portable Soundtracks for Temporary Utopias," (produced by
Grammy-winner Danny Blume, and co-produced by Matt Moran of Slavic
Soul Party) is the band's fourth album, and presents a phenomenal
collection of original songs as wild and eclectic as the band itself.
The Hungry March Band specializes in surprise radical encounters that
transform the mundane into the miraculous. "Portable Soundtracks for
Temporary Utopias" sets the tempo for a week of hi-jinks & pranks in
which the Hungry March Band will explode in music and create utopias
throughout New York City.

KID CONGO, INT'L SHADES AND THALIA ZEDEK @TONIC SATURDAY FEB. 10
Along with Kid Congo and his cool band, INT'L SHADES will be playing
with Thalia Zedek who sang in Live Skull.

Tonic Saturday, February 10.
The show starts at 8:00 PM, admission is $10 and Tonic is located at
107 Norfolk St between Delancy and Rivington 212-358-7501 /

Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds "Philosophy and Underwear" (New
York Night Train Records) 4 stars
Starting his recording career at the dawn of the 80's, Kid Congo
Powers sidestepped the prevailing shallowness of that decade to appear
on some of the finest records of that era- The Cramps "Psychedelic
Jungle" and "The Smell of Female", Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds "Tender
Prey" "The Good Son" and Barry Adamson's "Moss Side Story" to name a
few. Songs such as "The Last Word" with superbly discordant guitars
and anguished vocals, call to mind the first Voidoids album. Most of
the lyrics on these songs wouldn't have disgraced even the most
laconic of Warhol's Factory hands "It's the weather, it's the war/ I'm
confused, I'm a whore. MOJO Music magazine

Int'l Shades(IS) was formed in 2003 by legendary underground
musicians, drummer Bob Bert (Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore, Knoxville
Girls) and Mark C ( Live Skull, Spoiler) guitar and vocals. Bob and
Mark are joined by Tim Foljahn (Two Dollar Guitar, Cat Power, Half
Japanese) on bass and vocals, and Alexa Wilding (Dumbo's star singer
songwriter) on vocals and synthesizer.
Their first release, Hash Wednesday, is available on colored vinyl and
cd on Cass Records. The Big Takeover says, "Int'l Shades play
appealing post-punk pop that's as light as it is dark. This isn't
nostalgia, this is fresh."

Thrill Jockey recording artist Thalia Zedek, in a newly expanded 5
piece band featuring Winston Bramen, Daniel Coughlin, David Michael
Curry, and Mel Lederman , will be playing brand new material, along
with the usual original chesnuts. Thalia' s past projects include Come
with Chris Brokaw and Live Skull with Mark C. and Rich Hutchins

Hungry March is in a play
entitled
ONCE THERE WAS A VILLAGE
performed at La Mama
You must come!

January 25 - February 11, 2007
Thursday - Sunday 7:30pm
Sunday Matinee 2:30pm
Tickets $20
http://www.lamama.org/

At the northeast corner of Tompkins Square Park, in the median strip
between the sidewalk and Avenue B, there used to be a tree stump in
which some anonymous artist had tagged the rings with dates of
historic important in that very spot -- here's when the Draft Riots
were in the 1800s, and when Emma Goldman made a particular speech, and
when Charlie Parker lived across the street, and Allen Ginsberg around
the corner, and when the first Wigstock happened, and when the place
was a swamp. That tree had seen it all; unfortunately the whole stump
was removed in the last few years, making this vertiginous sense of
history a little less palpable. The same kind of sensation, though,
comes across in an "ethno-rock opera" the Hungry March Band is
involved in, "Once There Was a Village...", which opens tonight at La
Mama ETC on East 4th Street, performed by the Czech-American
Marionette Theater.

"Once There Was a Village" started out as a memoir of East Village
life by Yuri Kapralov, a Russian writer and artist who lived in the
neighborhood from the late 50s until his death last year. His art was
largely created from stuff he found in the street, and accordingly
much of the puppetry and the set in the performance is created from
street discardia -- old suitcases, broken vacuum cleaners, bike parts,
the guts of an old piano, etc. The performers manage to turn this
debris into a living pastiche of scenes from the neighborhood's
history, 400 years worth of it on the short side of two hours. And,
the Hungry March Band is doing most of the music for it! Frank London
(trumpet player extraordinaire) worked with the band to develop a
suite of songs that appropriately captured the complicated history of
the place, ranging from a song written in 1420 as a Hussite anthem
(sung in archaic Czech) to a salsa setting of a Miguel Piero poem.
It's a challenging and lovely piece, and will be running for three
weekends starting Thursday, January 25, at 7:30, with a Sunday matinee
at 2:30.

More information about the piece is online at
http://www.lamama.org/,
with a long piece about the play at
http://www.lamama.org/archives/2007/OnceThereWasAVillage.html

La MAMA Etc., 74a East 4th Street, NYC. 212.475.7710

And speaking of Frank London, he and Matt Moran were on the Sound
Check radio show on WNYC two weeks ago, and spoke highly of the Hungry
March Band, in the context of the hot hot hot brass band scene in NYC
these days. Check out the show at
http://www.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/episodes/2007/01/12

Hope to see you there!

On August 22, after the Hungry March Band's show at Lincoln Center
Out-of-doors, our saxman Okkon took a sucker-punch to the mouth. He
was crossing the street with the light when an irate driver, who felt
Okkon was taking too long, took the time to get out of his car, punch
Okkon in the face, get back in the car and peel out, disappearing
before any license numbers could be taken. Okkon, meanwhile, was left
with a black eye and a broken tooth.

Playing a saxophone with a broken tooth is no good (though Okkon has
done an admirable job, reminding one of when Coltrane said to Albert
Ayler, "Man, what kind of reed are you using?"). Okkon doesn't have
any money to speak of, and can use all the help we can give him. So,
the Hungry March Band will be performing -- along with Brooklyn

Hello Everyone,

Okay...we are now on the site. wwww.startomorrow.com The video shows
us playing one of the two cover songs that we were asked to perform.
You might notice a little confusion in the beginning of the video due
to the guitar cord not being properly plugged in when they started
shooting [while we were warming up]....personally, I am surprised that
they didn't edit this out, despite this minor setback, we did enjoy
playing this song and shooting the video. With your vote we advance

to set off for foreign shores once again. This is our third tour

Every city has its share of minor superheroes and civic-minded
troublemakers. The HMB blows through the world on the shoulder of
Chaos, veering among ecstatic rhythms and torrential melodies,
striving for ubiquity. A band of both Main Street and side street, we
are a DIY group that supports the community with our music. Most
recently we have played for the Kite Festival for the kids of PS 132;
ACE Benefit for the Homeless; Paris Review Fundraiser Gala; organized
the Feast of Saint Joey; hosted a brass band from Lyon France for two
weeks; raised over $10,000 for Katrina Victims; a benefit for Deep
Dish TV; East Harlem Little League Parade; April Fool's Day of
Primordial Chaos - 4 street bands converging in a Fort Green Park; a
play, Junta High at PS122; Great Small Works Spaghetti Dinner; Dance
Theatre Workshop, XXX - a situation for dancing; NYC Marathon 7th
annual Tootathon; Brooklyn Arts Exchange Awards; ABC No Rio Benefit
Auction; BARC Dog Parade; Gathering of the Tribes Gallery Charlie
Parker Event, where we were stood up by x-President Bill Clinton and
so so much more

The space we are using for this event is quite special, it's along the
Gowanus Canal and we have both outdoor space and indoor. The indoor
space is a converted silo with music upstairs and bar down. It is
quite charming but a little rough around the edges still as it only
could be along the once forgotten canal. We encourage your future
support of Issue Project Room as they have some wonderful programs!

George Diaz !!!!**LATINO STAND DUP**!!!!"DO YOU KNOW WHAT IM SAYING!"
He is more than comedy, he is a party! Comedy is the only thing he can
do right and he LOVES TO MAKE POEPLE LAUGH! He performs at the world
famous Laugh Factory in NYC with a group entitled LLEGAMOS, which has
arrived is beat known as "Fularies!"!

Bradford Reed never fails to entertain and inspire. This Brooklyn, NY
based composer, performer and producer fights and tames the
idiosyncrasies of the pencilina, an original instrument of his own
design and construction. Many have enjoyed Reed's frequent street
performances and club dates. http://www.pencilina.com

The Brian Wilson Shock Treatment play Heavy Fuzz. It is music that
explodes like light in the abyssmic void and smells of fog and pulsing
strobe lights. Your head will be proverbially sent flying against the
wall from the heavy bass undertones. Think MC5 or Blue Cheer in their
prime

Charangson is a NYC-based charanga orchestra playing popular Cuban
dance music. With its infectious rhythms including mambo and cha-cha,
Charangson modernizes the melodies and improvisational ornamentations
with its front line of violin, flute and brass.
