Thanks for your reply Dave,
There's a lot of great stuff on snapfiles.com (I don't work for them btw...). It's nice to find a site with no scams and downloads that do what they claim to do with no spyware etc. Audacity is particularly good if you want to edit recorded music. It allows multitracking and an appreciable range of features; I recently used it to make a podcast. I was able to record my voice and integrate music very easily. (unfortunately, I need a better microphone... you can listen to it here , it's an IT radio cast for my computing students, probably not very interesting for anyone else, or even the students for that matter...).
I created the podcast using another great site I found: clickcaster.com It's free, allows you to upload pre-recorded audio, or record directly to the website. You can also create video casts (vodcasts). When you've created a cast, you can add more items (episodes) as often as you like, which are streamed via an rss feed. It integrates your audio/video into a neat little flash player which will play from a webpage with almost no delay. It also gives you the option of embedding the flash player into 'myspace', a blog or any web page with a little chuck of code. rss/xml feeds are a great way to promote music on the internet; (search engines love feeds).
Maybe this all sounds a bit complicated, but it's actually incredibly easy. If anyone wants help doing this kind of stuff, send me a message.
Regards, Liam
