Re: Audio Software

Hi Ali, great to hear from you.

Me? working hard??? You're kidding.  I play with the website stuff while the baby is asleep.  I don't get too much time for myself apart from that.  (We're great, thanks, hope you are too.  Check your mail for a personal reply.  For anyone who doesn't know him; Freddy Wilson is a great figure in Australian Jazz.  He's been an huge inspiration to me and many others much more noteworthy than myself).  I have been updating the website a bit.  I recently added some new music to the music section; have a listen at:

 http://www.liamalexander.com/music

I used another great website to create the flash based players:

http://flamplayer.com

Again, it's free and no bugs.  You need a webhost with mysql/php to do what I've done, (not hard) but they do offer the option to integrate the player into a page without mysql with a little block of code using their flam express service.  (you just need to upload your mp3 files somewhere).  The sql based integration is great though; it creates playlists very much like windows media player.  All I need to do is upload more files and they instantly appear in the players on my pages based on artist name or playlist name.  It has a nice admin panel which allows you to manage everything easily.  I recently used 'audacity' to edit out some of my favourite guitar solos (by me) http://www.liamalexander.com/music/solos.html

Ok, I know I'm a geek... but it works for me ;) Regards, Liam

Use it to edit your sounds using Cut, Copy and Paste (with unlimited Undo), mix tracks together, or apply effects to your recordings. It also has a built-in amplitude envelope editor, a customizable spectrogram mode and a frequency analysis window for audio analysis applications. Built-in effects include Bass Boost, Wahwah, and Noise Removal, and it also supports VST plug-in effects."

If you want to edit audio; do fades, cut/paste, mix etc. this is for you. Includes multitrack recording, and you can output your audio as MP3, .wav or vog orbis. Highly recommended.
