As far as I'm aware "Another Place, Another Time" / "I Think I'll Cry Out Loud"
were the only two tracks Bobbie ever recorded for Brunswick; and I've never
heard of any Brunswick album being released either in the U.S. or the U.K.
"Steal Away," (written by Jimmy Hughes), along with a previously unreleased song
entitled "Slow Cookin'," (written by Bobbie), was included on the U.S. Curb
"Greatest Hits" album, (Curb D2-77387, 1990). These two songs along with "He
Did Me Wrong, But He Did It Right" plus two other previously unreleased songs
were included on the U.K. version of this album, which was entitled "Ode To
Billie Joe" (Curb 470216, 1990). The U.K. release contained 12 tracks while the
U.S. version had only 11 tracks. The U.K. released did not include the two
Bobbie & Glen Campbell duets which were on the U.S. version, but these two
tracks were replaced by "He Did Me Wrong, But He Did It Right" and the two
previously unreleased songs entitled "Sweet Country" and "Thunder In The
Afternoon," (written by R. L. Green, M. Norman, M. Davis). The liner notes have
no details on who wrote the other two tracks.
"Slow Cookin'," "Sweet Country" and "Thunder In The Afternoon" all sound as if
they were recorded around the same time as "Steal Away" and "He Did Me Wrong,
But He Did It Right" so my educated guess is that they are all Warner Brothers
recordings although that could obviously be completely incorrect. I've never
heard of a Warner Brothers album being released in the U.S. or the U.K. either,
but have often wondered if there are any more unreleased tracks in their vaults.
Peter Bellamy.
