Did I mention that my birthday is February 18th? Oh boy, I would love
a lunch box for my 21st birthday.

I just pimped out our store AND my birthday. Man, I'm good.

Happy Shopping!

Subject: THN... The Harmony Network Still Looking For On-Air Talent
RMTMUSIC@...
Send Email Send Email

IF YOU ARE ACCESSIBLE TO THE NORTHERN NEW JERSEY AREA READ ON....
ALL OTHERS MAY DELETE.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TOLD THAT YOU HAD A "RADIO" VOICE?  HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF BECOMING AN ON-AIR RADIO BROADCASTER?

The Harmony Network....THN is preparing to launch on April 1st of this year.  This network will be a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year radio network with a format of "All vocal harmony....All the time"  and will feature the music of the barbershop style and of the a cappella style done by the best groups in all of the a cappella world.

What makes THN so special is that we intend to offer "live" interactive shows each night during the week and on the weekends.  These live shows will originate from the studios of WVRM radio in Upper Montclair NJ.   On April 1st, we are planning to have a live show Monday through Friday in the 7:00-10:00pm time slot, and two shows on Saturday and two shows on Sunday.  The weekend show times will be determined by the hosts of those shows.

All of the talent on the station will be volunteer.  If the network is successful, we may be in a position at some time in the future to pay our talent.  But for the time being all positions, including the management of the station will be volunteers.

That said, we are looking for talented people from the barbershop community and the a cappella community to host the live broadcasts.   The "APPLAUSE" Show will remain on Thursday nights from 7:00-11:00pm.  Marty Israel, a certified SPEBSQSA Music Judge will host the show that will broadcast on Tuesday nights. His show, unnamed at this time will feature a mix of barbershop harmony and a cappella music.

The station has an extensive library of music that will support any kind of show that features barbershop or a cappella music.

We are looking for people who would host the following shows:
        1.  "Ladies Night Out" - A show featuring the Female groups from both the
Barbershop and the A cappella worlds.
        2. "The Contemporary Scene" - a show featuring the best of the contemporary
A cappella world.  Vocal Jazz and Contemporary artists will shine on this
            show.
        3. "Classic Barbershop" -  The best from the world of barbershop.  This show
will be "all barbershop, all the time"
        4.  "The Oldies Show" - this show will feature music from the champions
of the past (at least 10 years).  The host will draw from the many "past
champions" from the female and male barbershop library, and the
compilations that have been done by various regions and districts.
        5. "The College Show" - this show will feature the best of college acappella
groups throughout the world.  CD's from college groups and the compilations
of the best will be played on this show.
        6. "Off the Wall" - This show will feature the wacky performances of groups
who, classified as "Acappella", actually use instrumentation or other "non
vocal accompaniment.  This show will highlight the many talents of a
number of our quartets, choruses, groups, and even solo artists.
        7. "The Gospel Fest" - A show playing all kinds of acappella groups who
have produced gospel songs or gospel CD's.  We will air this show on
            Sundays.
        8. "The International Gold Medal Showcase" - exactly what it says.  A show
that brings music from groups that have attained the ultimate in contest -
the Gold Medal.  Great Music from the Champs.
        9. "(You Name It) -  Your own show with your own format.  The Library will
support many different kinds of shows...it's all up to your imagination.

We want to have these shows prepared and ready to go prior to March 15th, and that means we need to identify the talent NOW!   We need to have people indicating their interest and training in the next 5 weeks.  We assure you the training and the operation of a radio show is not difficult.  But we need to know of your interest now.

Please consider this opportunity.  Maybe you have a quartet and you want to do a show and have the "host" be your quartet.  Maybe you have done some radio before and now want to get back into the "air-chair."  Maybe your chapter wants to do a show with the members taking turns in the "air-chair."  Maybe you know a college student who is looking to develop some radio experience.  Whatever your situation, you have a chance to become an "On-Air Host" on a radio show that will be heard around the world in 13 countries and in 48 of our 50 states (based on emails received on The "APPLAUSE" Show).

If you are interested in this historic venture, email me at  The2004THN@....
Let me know about your interest and a little about you.  After you send your email, call me at 973-592-7351 and I will speak to you about the training and what kind of a show you want to do.

DON'T PASS UP THIS OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF HISTORY!  Never before in the history of radio has a commercially licensed station changed it's format to barbershop harmony and a cappella music.

Thanks for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you

Subject: "THN...The Harmony Network" My letter 3 weeks ago
RMTMUSIC@...
Send Email Send Email

Approximately three weeks ago, I sent a letter to you regarding  "THN … The Harmony Network.  In that letter, I asked that you share the letter with the members of your chapter and your Chapter Board of Directors (if you are a barbershop harmony singer),  your friends, family and anyone you know who loves acappella and barbershop harmony. In that letter I asked you to consider financially supporting The Harmony Network.  This project will benefit acappella singers and barbershoppers in very specific ways.

The Harmony Network will be the first commercial broadcast IN HISTORY dedicated to barbershop harmony and a cappella music 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK, 356 DAYS PER YEAR.  In addition, your own local audiences, ticket buyers and patrons will also be able to hear barbershop music via their computers all day long.

The staff is all volunteers, and the network itself, will be a non-profit educational corporation.  We, you and I, along with barbershop singers, quartets, and chapters all across the country and throughout the world, are the people who will benefit from this project.

In order for the Network to succeed, we need your help and the help of hundreds of others.  Our deadline is drawing near and as of today we have received few positive responses. If the start up capital of $8000 and the yearly expenses of $24,000 are NOT raised by the A cappella and Barbershop communities, the Network will not succeed.

I ask you to please go to our website at:

www.harmonize.com/applauseshow/THN.html

and review the facts about the Network.  Please re-read the letter I sent and please, please consider how you can help make live barbershop radio a reality.  Please email me at The2004THN@... if you can help.

Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing from you, and I give you my commitment to the success of THN … The Harmony Network.

Hi there folks...
Hi there...lovers of barbershop harmony and acappella music;

This is long, however, I hope you will read it through as being an important project that will benefit all people who love barbershop harmony and acappella music.

Some of you will recognize my name, and maybe you have heard The "APPLAUSE" Show, or seen me on the men's International Webcast for the last 4 years), or maybe you have seen my responses to discussions on the various discussion groups.

I am writing to YOU today because at sometime during my broadcast career with The "APPLAUSE" Show, your email address was important to the show.  Your address was included in either "listeners", "fans", "Recipients of Playlist Postings", "Contributors", "Friends" or "Important people in the Barbershop World" ..  Some of you fall into more than one group....which means you might get more than one copy of this report (and I apologize up front for that).   I am writing to YOU...as an individual, and even though thousands will receive this communication, I am really writing and talking today to YOU...

What follows comes from my heart....I hope that you will read the email... Thanks for that right from the start.

THN...The Harmony Network, a dream that was first envisioned in the fall of 2001 when we were moving the radio show from one radio station to another.  We began thinking about how we could create a radio station where there would be barbershop harmony and a cappella music all the time, with "Live" radio shows from all over the world.  At the time, we found that to create such a station, with licensing fees, equipment, talent, etc. would cost in excess of $150,000.00 and would require a fairly large operating budget.  So, we chose to continue with The "APPLAUSE" Show at a new location..which became WVRM Village Radio in Upper Montclair, NJ.  We began the "continued" broadcast of the origninal show in January of 2002 under the auspices and support of Regional Broadcasting Services.

After we began with Regional Broadcasting Services, the owner of WVRM, we found that the CEO of the company enjoyed and actually liked barbershop harmony.  He has been a big supporter of The "APPLAUSE" Show and has commented many times that our style of music appears to have a large appeal to the public.  In the fall of 2002, we began exploring the idea of making WVRM a radio station that was 24/7 barbershop and acappella harmonies.  After about 6 months of discussions, we were given the word that he would consider turning the entire format of the station over to "us" as long as we could cover "basic" expenses of the station.   We wrote to most of you in March of 2003 to advise you of this important announcement.   We discovered that we could operate the entire 24/7 format for $2,000.00 per month that would cover the rent of the two studios (one broadcast and one for live in-studio guests), heat, electric, licensing, ASCAP fees, telephone line and streaming costs.  It has been planned from the beginning that all "talent" would be amateur and volunteer.  The annual cost is less than a third (1/3) of the budget that operated the station that The "APPLAUSE" Show aired on for the first 4 1/2 years.

Since March of 2003, we have been broadcasting appeals to participate in the conversion of the station to the barbershop/acappella format.  In January of this year , we set the date for the conversion..April 1st.
In the last two months, we have sent personal letters to three basic groups of people.  Letters have been sent to the Chapter Presidents of 240 chapters in the Men's barbershop harmony Society.  We have sent letters to the contacts for quartets in the Men's Society.  And we have sent letters to a lot of individuals who have been a part of the "APPLAUSE" Show through email support and through financial support.  We have also sent the information/solicitation letters to the main discussion groups in the acappella communities.

We are in need of your help if this new project is to succeed.  Those of you who know me know that I am the eternal "optimist".  When we first knew of the costs associated with running the entire station, I did not have any doubt that the people involved with the acappella community would see the value and importance of this project and that the required money would be funded by them...you and I.  We are now about 3-4 weeks away from starting this new format and the funding has not come in.  Yes, we have had a number of donations...numbering about 10-15 so far.....but not the hundreds that I thought we would receive.  So I am appealing to anyone who believes in this project, (a project that will give anyone interested in barbershop harmony the ability to hear live interactive radio shows every day of the week, and who will hear acappella and barbershop harmony all day, every day in the year) to consider what you can do to support this project.  Maybe you aren't in a position to make a large contribution, but maybe you could print out the information, copy it and say something this week to your chapter and their members.  Perhaps, as a Board member, you could discuss the project at your chapter Board of Directors meeting to see if your chapter could send a donation.  And perhaps you sing in a quartet that performs for a fee and you would consider a donation from the quartet.  All of the information can be accessed at the website:
                            www.harmonize.com/applauseshow/thn.html

Thank you for reading through this email... I wish I could talk to each one of you in person and tell you of my commitment to bringing the best of the barbershop world and the acappella community to each of you.

"THN...The Harmony Network", has been a dream....Will you join me in making this dream come true.

This is going to be a great a cappella show. Through time travel, we
explore how the introduction of a cappella back at the beginning of
mankind would have changed major events throughout history.
We "visit" the Roman forum to explore why Caesar was killed, discover
why Sitting Bull attacked Custer at the Little Big Horn, witness the
toils of the Continental Congress writing our constitution and
peeking in on Sigmund Freud on his wedding night. Not to mention the
three musketeers meet and sing with Zorro.

The lineup of talent is exceptional.
Grandma's Boys, the 1979 International Championship Quartet, has
recently come back together to give a select number of appearances
around the country.
Other performers include:
Boston Accent, 2003 a Harmony Inc' Women's International medallist
Prelude 2002 Northeast quartet champ
Applause 2003 Northeast quartet medallist

Hosting the show is the Sounds of Concord which is the top ranked
barbershop chorus in Massachusetts.

There are two shows on Saturday, April 3: one at 2 PM, the other at
7:30 PM. The location is Concord-Carlisle high school in Concord,
MA. It's about 10 minutes west on route 2 from 128. Tickets are $15
ordered over the net, $18 at the door.

For ticket information, and to order, logon to: SoundsOfConcord.org
