A Winter Warmer

Fretless, Boston Jazz Voices, and Integration By Parts will perform
this coming Saturday, Dec. 11 at First Parish Church in Bedford, MA
at 8 pm. Join these performers for an evening of a cappella music
and merriment that will run the gamut from jazz standards and big
band pieces to the Beatles, including some seasonal favorites.

Boston Jazz Voices (formerly the New England Close Harmony Ensemble
or NECHE), is a unique jazz choir. Unlike most a cappella groups,
which consist of 4-5 singers, the eighteen accomplished jazz singers
of Boston Jazz Voices can blend as one voice or swing in tight eight-
part harmonies like a vocal big band. Formed almost 20 years ago,
Boston Jazz Voices has performed in jazz clubs, concert halls and
private venues from New England to Paris.

Fretless is an award-winning a cappella quintet featuring male and
female singers with a repertoire of jazz, pop and classical
pieces. "Fretless" chose its name to represent the musical freedom
and challenge of making music with a fretless instrument: the
voice. You will be amazed by this entertaining, innovative and
highly accomplished vocal group.

Integration by Parts is a six-member vocal band. This merry band of
music veterans has crafted a unique sound influenced heavily by
jazz, breathing new life into everything from pop to folk to classic
rock. Known for their tight vocal harmonies, but never in danger of
taking themselves too seriously, the members of IBP infuse their
performances with exuberance and a healthy shot of humor.

This performance will delight your ears, make your toes tap and send
you home humming. Please join us. Tickets are $12, $8 for students
and seniors, available at the door.

First Parish Church in Bedford is located on the Common at 75 Great
Road (Route 62/4/225) in Bedford, MA. 781-275-7994. Directions are
available on the web at http://www.uubedford.org/.

Hi there gang,

Well, December 16th found this broadcaster again alone in the studio for the second time in four weeks as my guest co-host, Murray Natkie, the Tenor of Scarred For Life, was at home in "quarantine" from a whooping cough scare in the "home-schooled" population in Hunterdon County.  Murray is OK now and we are looking forward to hearing him on the air at another time in the future.

This was our third week of the Holiday season and we were able to bring to the airwaves many of the songs of the season.  We are so pleased to be celebrating our 8th Holiday Season with our listeners and we are thankful for those artists who have provided their music to the Netowrk for broadcast to you.

Hey there fellow Boston-area-acappella folks!

None of the Above, an up and coming eclectic acappella group, is
still searching for a low bass. We sing a *very* wide variety of

between.

We're looking for a bass (not a baritone) that has decent sight
reading ability or is willing to spend the extra time outside
rehearsals.

Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30pm near Waltham
Ctr. Our next available audition slot is January 5th.

Bluegrass music’s Vocal Group of the Year, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, make a rare area appearance on Saturday, January 8th at the National Heritage Museum.  If you’re not familiar with bluegrass’ close harmony singing and pure vocal sound, then this is the show to turn your ear on.  While not strictly acapella, the band is sure to impress.

Gospel Quartet singing is the mainstay of the Quicksilver repertoire, and Doyle is a master at discovering and revitalizing obscure material from old hymnbooks and early records.  The band has received numerous Grammy nominations, International Bluegrass Music Awards, and is the 2004 IBMA Vocal Group of the Year.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Back in NYC & it's gonna be HOT!

National recording artists Ball in the House are coming back to NYC.
Riding on the success of their latest national release "Think About
It", Ball in the House will be LIVE in NYC on January 13th!

Ball in the House
w/ special guests: YoYo Beats, Masai Electro, & Midi
Kenny's Castaways
157 Bleeker Street NYC
January 13th * 9:30pm * $8.00

Ball in the House is a nationally known touring pop/r&b band.
Performing about 250 shows per year, the definition of a working
band, BitH has opened for/played with major acts such as The
Temptations, The Four Tops, Jessica Simpson, 98 Degrees, Jewel, Lenny
Kravits, Cher, Gladys Knight, Smokie Robinson, Blondie, KC & The
Sunshine Band, and many more. For the last four years, Ball in the
House have been the voices of the national TV and radio campaign for
Kraft Cool Whip.

BitH's latest release, titled "Think About It" is a strong and
eclectic body of work that covers a wide spectrum of contemporary
styles. Reaching well outside of typical "pop" boundaries, BitH
experiments with soul and hip-hop influences while maintaining strong
gospel undertones. Mature, original songwriting and outstanding
performances make this Ball in the House's most exciting and, easily
put, BEST project yet!

We invite you to come and experience Ball in the House LIVE at
Kenny's Castaways NYC on January 13th, 9:30pm. This promises to be
an event you DO NOT want to miss.

A soprano! A soprano! Our kingdom for a soprano!

Random Chants, a Boston-based 12-woman a cappella group, is looking
for a new soprano to join in the fun with us. We'll be considering
both Sop I's & Sop II's, but folks able to belt out a high G will get
a lot of love! Experience and/or interest in vocal percussion and
arranging is more than welcome, though not required.

We practice weekly in the Boston/Cambridge area. Our repertoire
ranges from the Indigo Girls to Captain & Tennille, from Yes to
Erasure. Check out our website at http://www.randomchants.com/ to see
what we're all about; then contact Kristin at
kristin@... to set up an audition.

THE NEWS…
We have a big solo show this weekend just 8 miles from Boston. We'll
be able to pull out all the stuff we don't often get to do,
including some instrumental tunes. Note that this show was
rescheduled from October.

We have sold the very last of our "Supercar" CDs, so there are none
left. If, at some point, there seems to be demand for it, we might
re-press it or burn some, but for now, we got none! Therefore, all
sales info has been removed from our website.

We still have DVDs, though, and we start recording our new CD soon!
It will be engineered by Dan Cantor of Jim's Big Ego, and produced
by Michael Bilotta. Michael also directed our video, and is
available for video production for all projects big and small, from
weddings to…music videos like ours. Contact him at
m.bilotta@... for more info. He gets the big AAB Stamp of
Approval! And that's enough pimpin' for today!

The website has been updated with new photos, sound clips (live from
the VT A Cappella Summit + a really cool ME Public Radio spot), and
an updated press kit.

Join the Bubs Foundation and a cappella fans from all over New
England this Saturday at the 2005 Boston Regional of the Harmony
Sweepstakes National A Cappella Competition! On March 12, 2005 at
7:30PM, in Cohen Auditorium on the Tufts University campus, 7 a
cappella groups will sing and dance their hearts out to be named the
Boston Regional Champion. This is the 15th annual Boston Regional
competition for a trip to the National Finals in San Francisco.
Tickets are available at 617-627-3493.

The winner will succeed last year's Boston Regional Champion, Road
Show, who will be back to display their talents at the Boston
Regional on March 12th along with the award-winning Tufts University
Beelzebubs.

Not only is the competition a must-see for the a cappella world, but
it also supports Greater Boston's under-funded public school music
programs. Produced by the Bubs Foundation, a non-profit
organization, the Boston Regional Harmony Sweepstakes Competition
has been donating time, funds, and resources to Boston area public
school music programs for over 10 years. By raising money for
schools in need, the Bubs Foundation is ensuring that that the arts,
specifically music, continue to be a vital part of the curriculum in
Boston area schools.

For tickets to the show, please contact the Tufts University Box
Office at 617-627-3493. For directions and more information about
The Bubs Foundation, visit www.bubsfoundation.org.
