Hi everyone!

This past Tuesday, Tuesday Night Swipes featured all the medalists, choruses and quartets, from the just-completed Barbershop Harmony Society contests.  The mystery cut was by Saturday Evening Post.

This week's show will have a new feature cut and a new mystery cut, where a listener can win a CD by calling in with the identity of the singers.

Tuesday Night Swipes is on 7:00pm-11:00pm New Jersey time.

To listen to Tuesday Night Swipes, a proud program of The Harmony Network, go to www.harmonize.com/thn and follow the directions to the live broadcast and the chat room, if you are so inclined.

To call in, simply use our toll free (anywhere in the continental United States) number, 1-877-THN-SONG.

This past show, nobody identified Saturday Evening Post singing Tell Me You'll Forgive Me, so no one won a new CD.  Perhaps this week, you will change this.

The new CASA (Contemporary A Cappella Society) site is officially up
and open! After months of planning and months more of execution, the
site is up and functional. A worldwide staff worked hard to get this
site going, and you'll be amazed at all it does - I certainly am!

Aside from the new, clean design (by Freddy Feldman), here are just a
few of the things you can now do and see at casa.org:

* read news stories that are coming in daily - all types and styles of
a cappella represented
* forums - post auditions, talk about concerts, make announcements
* profiles - you can post a profile of yourself (w/photo), and message
other members
* blogs and columns by a cappella luminaries, such as: Rene Ruiz/Toxic
Audio, Wes Carroll/House Jacks and All About Buford, Richard
Greene/The
Bobs, Bill Hare/recording engineer...
* new recording reviews / live concert reviews
* arranging, vocal health, performance improvement info
* international concert calendar - post yours or see what's going on
near you
* post your own blog entry or news item. I'll review it and put it up!

...and that's just the tip of the iceburg.

We want everyone to be involved via this site, so check it out and let
us know what you think, or post a blog entry. Also, we welcome new
writers, so if you have a story idea, contact me at editor@....

The site is in phase I of the launch, and other aspects will be added
in phase II, but in the meantime, we welcome comments and
contributions.

See you on the site: www.casa.org

All About Buford seeks one more powerful guy singer. We need a
pro-level singer with stage presence and power. Someone with a strong
solo voice who can groove. All performances are paid. Great ear
required. Songwriting and arranging skills a plus; ability to play
other instruments also welcomed. Also interested in incorporating
pedals and effects. Songs are arranged collectively - you will not be
reading from written arrangements for the most part (think band
structure). All members get a chance to sing lead, but also will be
required to sing blended but creative backup parts. The music is
pop-oriented, with a little of whatever else moves us, so you must
have a pop voice and sensibility, and a hip look - we want a good
visual onstage as well as good music! Must be able to make a
commitment to some touring, and consistent gigging. Competent mic
technique and comfortable performance skills (movement, ability to
banter and joke) required.

We perform solely at listening rooms, festivals and concert halls of
prestige. We have strong relationships with many high-end venues, with
new performances being booked all the time. Booking is done both
internally and externally, but all management and business is mostly
done internally by the members of the band. New recording in the works.

Though this is not currently a full-time commitment, it may become so
at some point (or it may not). We are an award-winning vocal band
based in the Boston area, but we are a commuting band, so disparate
locations are ok. Rehearsals approximately once a week (when
geographically together), perhaps more during the initial phase.

Please contact amy@..., or 617.290.6749 with sound
clips, photo and bio/resume. If you'd like to mail recordings and
materials, please send to: Amy Malkoff, 182 Pleasant Street,
Marblehead, MA 01945. Any questions or concerns can also be sent to
the same address. We look forward to hearing from you and to a
creative, fun, and innovative project!

Fretless Needs a Soprano

“Fretless”, a Boston-based prize-winning a cappella quintet, is looking for an experienced soprano with a good ear and a strong solo voice. Sadly, we’ve lost our superb soprano, Anna, to motherhood.  Our vocal mix is SATBB. Our repertoire includes jazz, pop, show tunes, and some classical pieces. We are known for our very tight harmony and our eclectic repertoire.  You can listen to clips of songs from our brand new CD, “All the Things We Are”and learn more about the groupat our website:

Something wicked (awesome) this way comes...
I'm writing to invite you to yet another wild and windy Halloween concert!

Get into your costume, or just into the spirit, as eerie (yet harmonious) voices fill the old (yet not abandoned) firehouse.  This third annual “Spookapella” showcase once again features a fearful variety of vocals-only music.  New York's Duwende returns by popular demand, and then Boston's own reunited Five O'Clock Shadow will glide in for one howlin’ good time.

Lots of treats and a few tricks too!  Ear-candy, anyone?
