Come build a drum with us! You have your choice of building a Djembe,
Ashiko, Dunun, Native American Frame Drum or Native American Ceremonial
Drum at our next Workshop on is May 19-20, 2007!
This is a once a year Workshop, so be sure to get in on it if you want
to build a drum this year!
(To register for this workshop or for more information please go to:
http://www.graftondrum.com/drummaking.php )
Where: North Grafton, MA (directions mailed to you after you register)
When: May 19-20, 2007. The workshop starts each day at 9 AM and runs
until approximately 6 to 8 PM. (It can run longer or shorter for some,
depending on how much sanding, design or decoration is intended.)
Stan Secrest, workshop craftsman and facilitator, from
www.buildadrum.com joins us again bringing with him years of experience
running workshops all over the country. This will be Stan's 6th workshop
in co-ordination with Grafton Drum. Stan will supply all the rough drum
shells, skins, rings, rope, glue, varnish and knowledge.
Please bring with you anything that you will need to decorate your drum
shell, such as wood-burning tools, paint or stain. We will have a
limited supply of these items should you forget, but please don't count
on us having exactly what you want for your creativity to be expressed.
Please come with a design in mind to save time at the workshop. You will
need to bring some cloth/fabric that is special/pleasing to you for
wrapping your rings. We will have a limited supply of fabric as well.
Stan brings several different types of drum shells in different woods.
You can choose from what he has available, or you can make advance
arrangements for something specific. Base prices listed below are for
pine; hardwoods cost an additional $25. Stan definitely has cherry
available this year and perhaps some ash. If you are interested in a
tropical hardwood please contact Stan directly at
stansecrest@...
If you are unsure of what type of drum you want to make (or have any
other questions) email me at classes@... and I can give you
some suggestions.

http://www.graftondrum.com/drummaking.php and click on the type of drum
you’d like to add it to your cart, or email me.
Registration deadline is about May 1, 2007. By then, a $50 deposit is
required; payment is accepted via check (made payable to Stan Secrest)
or Visa/Mastercard (Stan processes the credit card information). If you
would like to pay only the deposit, please write "Deposit Only" in the

first day of the workshop, and you can use credit card, check or cash
then, as well.
In addition to the workshop cost which goes directly to Stan, I ask each
participant to contribute $25 to help cover the cost of wear and tear on
my home and supplies that I provide. The $25 may be cash or a check made
payable to The Grafton Drum Co-op or you may pay via paypal using
classes@....
If you are coming from out of town and need a place to stay, contact me
directly, and I can point you in the right direction.
After registering, you will receive confirmation of your order. About a
week or two before the workshop you'll receive another email giving you
details on what to bring and directions.
Please pass this information onto anyone else you know who is interested
in building a drum
