Hello Everyone --
Drums For One & All has got a bunch of stuff to share with you for
drumming events this coming week, so I'll skip the usual introductions
and get right down to business....
WHAT: DFOA FreeDrum
WHEN: Thursday, Feb 5th, 7pm to 9:30-ish
WHERE: Milford UU Church, 23 Pine Street, Milford MA
HOW MUCH: $5 per adult, kids under 13 are free
WHO: Open to all who love to indulge in freestyle improvisational
drumming and dancing. And if that doesn't say it all, then I invite you
to check out the DFOA website for more details (address below). All
ages and skill levels are welcome. Bring your own drum or borrow one of
the extras on hand. Flutes and didges are welcome for the later part of
the evening when it gets quiet enough for us to hear them.
WHAT: "First Fridays" Drum Circle
WHEN: Friday, Feb 6th, 6:45 instruction session, 7:30 drum circle
WHERE: World Dance & Music Center, 925 Central Ave, 2nd floor, Pawtucket RI
HOW MUCH: $5 for drum lesson, $5 for drum circle
WHO: Bellydance instructor Lola and drum master George Rizk are
starting up what they hope will become a monthly freestyle drum circle
in Pawtucket, which should be great for folks in the Providence area who
are in need of a local drumming fix. Dave Curry from DFOA will be
facilitating the drum circle, while George will be giving the pre-circle
instructional session on basic doumbek technique. You need to bring
your own drum for the lesson, but there will be extra drums available
for the drum circle, which will include a mix of drumming styles. This
will be a great evening for bellydancers who want to come out and
practice their shimmies to some great grooves. More info at

combination of Mother Earth and tribal drumming. If the weather is
good, we'll start off the evening with a moonlit walk in the woods. If
not, we'll watch a short DVD about the origins of the Universe to get us
in the mood for some cosmic drumming (indoors where it's warm and dry).
Hot drinks provided. Hot drums provided for those who need to borrow.
