-----------------------------------------------
Brainstatik
New Jersey-based Brainstatik is best known for their completely-
improvised live concerts, where they perform long-form jams combining
ambient, world, progressive rock, and space music, liberally shifting
and mixing genres within each piece. Every song is a spontaneous
exploration of diverse musical themes, with nothing rehearsed or
planned beforehand, so Brainstatik always sounds completely different
each time they play.
Brainstatik has been together for 12 years and performs smaller shows
in galleries as a duo or trio, and in larger concerts with the
current full lineup of six members. Everyone in Brainstatik is a
certified electronic gear junkie, each choosing from a huge sonic
palette from which to make sounds. Armed with this complex musical
toybox, guitars can sound like drums, keyboards can make guitar
sounds, and drums can play keyboards, which often can confound
audience members (and sound engineers) who can't quite tell who's
playing what part. Brainstatik's current lineup of multi-
instrumentalists includes founding members Robert Burger and Ken
Palmer, along with Mike Hunter, Glenn Robitaille, Jim Silvestri and
George Mahlberg.
The music heard at their live shows is always organic, with each
piece constantly evolving and morphing into something new.
Brainstatik can sound ethereal and quiet, complex and orchestral, or
experimental and edgy. The resulting performance often sounds
rehearsed and composed, but in reality the band has no explanation
for where the music takes them at any live show... it all just
happens at that moment, almost beyond their control. The risk of a
creative "train wreck" is always there, but the members of
Brainstatik thrive on taking their music right to the edge every time
they perform. They'd be quickly bored doing it any other way.

OMBIENT is the moniker under which Mike Hunter performs his
completely improvised ambient/drone music. Mike started his musical
career playing his fathers electric bass through an old analog tape
delay making strange and disturbing space/mood music. He later
continued on to study the classical guitar before moving into the
progressive rock genre. Once he discovered the more modern
equivalent of that old analog tape delay, Ombient was born.Ombient's
ambient/drone music, being of a live improvisational nature, is
representative of the feeling of the moment in which it is performed
and of the subtle feedback between the audience and the performer.
It features guitar, processed and layered using digital looping
equipment enabling a single guitar to produce symphonic levels of
density. Ombient is joined for this performance by guest guitarist
and long time friend Mike Courter bringing new and interesting
melodic elements to the Ombient sound. Mike Courter is an
accomplished guitarist and songwriter from Central NJ.
BRAINSTATIK: New Jersey-based Brainstatik is best known for their

STARES TO NOWHERE is a collaboration between Bill Fieger and
Heather Lind, both multi-instrumental artists who have been playing
together Since April 1999. Their Collaboration has evolved from
simply getting together and making music, to a CD, website, and tons
of unreleased material. Although 15 years of age separate them, the
chemistry between the two is unreal, resulting in a music that is
magic. Bill primarily plays synthesizer, while Heather plays
electric and acoustic guitars, drums and electric organ, they both
play a number of other instruments including but not limited to
Mandolin, Zither, Steel Guitar, Flute and Percussions. They make use
of sound, organic and otherwise in their music, much like Edgar
Varies and Pink Floyd. The music of Stares to Nowhere is composed,
preformed and produced by the duo and is highly improvisational in
nature. Described by many listeners as a soundtrack to a movie that
doesn't exist. Their music is ambient, experimental, electronic,
tribal and at times unpredictable, reaching from the ancient past
out towards the distant stars.
ACE PARADISE is currently a Freelance DJ, Musician, Remixer,
Recording Artist and Producer, specializing in the production of
Electronic Music. He enjoys working and collaborating with other DJs
and musicians to preserve and promote many genre of Electronic
Music. Ace approaches Electronic Performance, from the angle of his
many years spent as a DJ. He has developed his own technique for
combining and mixing an eight channel programmable sequencer and two
synthesizers, using two DJ mixers and a Master effects controller.
This technique has enabled Ace to simultaneously combine, up to 10
different elements, Live, creating a spectacular and unforgettable
sound. Ace Paradise is currently working on a new group
collaboration titled, (Autobahn ) , with long time friends and band
mates, Warren Seddon and Jeff Mitchell. Together these musicians
have assembled a new CD due for release very soon, titled Ace
Paradise & Autobahn - Stratosphere. They will be performing out in
the local Philadelphia area soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for
them. It will be a performance not to be missed.

Brainstatik features Stockton, NJ guitarist Robert Burger on guitar
and guitar-synthesizer. Burger's solo project "The Gak Omek"
recently released a second album, The Return of the All-Powerful
Light Beings (Fossil Records), a follow up to the first CD, Alien
Eye. Described as a progressive rock interpretation of ancient and
modern mysteries, the 'Return of the All-Powerful Light Beings' is
one of the most imaginative new offerings in the progressive rock
(prog rock) style. Burger's style has been compared to Robert Fripp,
Steve Hackett, David Torn, and Pat Metheny. The new CD takes
cerebral music to a new level by incorporating majestic guitar
playing, electronic percussion, and cosmic synth sounds. The Return
of the All-Powerful Light Beings was voted one of the Top 20
Progressive Rock Albums of 2004 by Progressive Soundscapes Radio,
Sea of Tranquility, Nucleus, and Radio Gnome.
Mike Hunter of Trenton, NJ plays the 12-string Warr touch guitar
and 6-string electric with South Jersey based Irish
traditional/Celtic rock group The Stone Soup Band, as well as his
solo ambient drone music under the "Ombient" moniker. His music has
been described as ambient like the random symmetry of wind chimes,
the sound of vehicles moving on some far distant highway, and the
warm hum of high tension power lines.
Glenn Robitaille, a resident of Dunellen, NJ plays acoustic and
electronic drums. Glenn's style includes a love for odd time
signatures, time changes, polyrhythms, and the pallet of sounds
available through electronic drums. In previous lives he played
drums for Solar Circus, The Callipygian Blues Band, and Gangster
Clairvoyants.
Jim Silvestri of Wood-Ridge, NJ has been playing bass for 30
years. Jim started his musical career with the classic rock band
Rushlight in the late 70s. He also appeared with The John Michel
Orchestra, The Stardreamers, The All Star Jazz Orchestra and was a
founding member of the progressive rock band Ghosts on the Skyline.
George Mahlberg lives in the Manayunk area of Philadelphia, PA. When
not installing and training users of editorial publishing systems,
he hosts a weekly radio program, Nocturnal Transmissions, on WPRB-FM
103.3 in Princeton, or can be found simply sitting under the stars
and pondering the vastness of the Cosmos. A multi-instrumentalist,
George performs on a Chapman Stick Bass, sitar, Theremin, and his
venerable BC Rich Eagle bass.
Brainstatik co-founder Ken Palmer, an art director at Bloomberg and
resident of Crosswicks, NJ plays synthesizers and serves as
recording engineer for the band's music. He is the founder and host
of the Cosmic Coffeehouse (www.cosmiccoffeehouse.org), a bi-monthly
event in that showcases unique local musicians. He previously
played keyboards and guitar in the bands E. Echo-K and Liquid Idiot.
Robert J. Burger and Ken Palmer formed Brainstatik in 1995. For the
past eleven years they've recorded and performed completely
improvised and spontaneously composed instrumental music. Their
sound has been influenced by everything from progressive rock,
electronic, and world/ethnic music. For more information, visit
