Hello again,
I'd like to clarify my previous email about email address privacy
on the Breakdown list:
Your email address is *not* visible to *anyone* (members or
non-members) when viewing messenges on the Yahoo Groups
website. It is, however, visible to *members* who receive the
messenges by regular email. If you wish to hide your email from
these particular members, you can do so on the Group
homepage.
So it is *possible* but not very likely the member who told me he
was receiving a lot of spam had his email address revealed by
being a Yahoo Groups member. But in my opinion, this is a
relatively low-risk online service, and he could be getting spam
from any number of sources. In my own case, I have no reason
to think any spam I receive is because of Yahoo Groups.
As with any email list, it's a good idea to use a disposable
account like one from Yahoo or Hotmail.
best,
Chad Ossman
