Question: Eno did plenty of Producing on U2's Achtung Baby.
Does anyone know what or how the sampled loop in
Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World was created?

I know this might not be the group to ask but I've posed the same
question to various Yahoo U2 groups and no one seems to know has a
clue.

Thank you for any info you can provide.

Hey again.... i think this would be a good
introduction to his rock material. It should hook you
and leave you hungry for more. The song was recorded
not too long ago therefore it is not as raw as his
early rock stuff. You mentioned downloading mp3's so
try searching for a song called *Spinning Away*. The
lyrics are ageless and beautiful. I hope you dig it !

peace bro

hey bro..... What a trip that you don't like brian
eno's early rock stuff. If you give it more of a
chance you will discover that most of it is brilliant.
Anyway, I will suggest a couple af albums that are
mostly instrimental. Eno & wobble, I think the album
is called *Spinner*, (but I'm not entirly sure) The CD
is a soundtrack for a Derek Jarman film called
*Glitterbug*. Another excellent CD is called *Nerve
Net* It is mostly atmospheric, but not as etherial as
some of his ambient work. Never the less it is
brilliant.Continue to explore his music, he is always
full of suprises. Brian Eno > the apitamy of modest.
I would love to hear what you think of the CD's
I suggested so if you get the time, hit me back with
some feedback.
Peace bro
Christopher

Plenty to choose from. I would give On Land a try next
since it's my favorite. In no particular order you
could also try:
Thursday Afternoon
Apollo
Music for Films
Discreet Music
Evening Star or No Pussyfooting
Drawn From Life

These pretty much cover a broad spectrum of his more
ambient work. Others like Nervenet, Spinner etc, are
kind of tweeners. Don't give up on the rock stuff
either, you should absolutely give a listen to Another
Green World.

Once you get a handle on all that then there are the
myriad other Eno cohorts and collaborators you can
explore like Jon Hassel, Harold Budd, Robert Fripp,
the list is a long one.

Greetings all!

I am a new member to this group, and my warm greetings to you all! I recently
discovered the music of Eno at a friends place, and I have not stopped since. I
am really drawn into his ambient soft atmospheric pieces (such as Music for
Airports). After listening and buying copies of Music for Airports, and Music
for Films, I now would like to expand my listening pleasure. Would any person
please suggest some other albums of his that I might find interesting. I really
like his ambient space atmospheric music, but not his early rock stuff. Also,
are there any good mp3 sites for his music downloads? I look forward to hearing
from you. Thanks.Ashwin.

This man has quietly changed the sound of music as we know it.Others
claim stardom or longivity but Eno has no qualm with just sitting in
the shadows.Wanting no praise or Glory for his ground breaking
acomplishments.How shall we measure true artism,sales figures,awards
on a shelf. Not in my world or his.But I do hope some reward will
befall him as thought and inovation are a hard thing to gauge.
Just a few thoughts,ED

There are no plans as far as I know to take it on the
road anywhere. Some of the nine musicians involved are
in other bands so the logistics may prove too much to
do. I'll certainly alert the list if anything comes
up. The 2nd show on Sept.14th has been confirmed
though.

I thought I'd post a big thanks to T Max and his crew on the success
of the Project Eno show last Friday night at the 608 in Somerville
MA. For hardcore Eno fans this was a real treat. T Max lead a team of
nine musicians through a double set of 15 of BE's notable 'rock'
songs from:

Here Come the Warm Jets
Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)
Another Green World
Before and After Science

Nothing short of seeing this music played by Eno and his cronies
could have eclipsed this show. I've heard several well known bands
cover some Eno songs over the years but none came as close to the
execution and spirit of this group of musicians. The highlights for
me was St. Elmo's Fire and Blank Frank, the former was beautifully
executed and the latter was visually stunning and frantic with
energy.

In-between sets Sensory Overload Pictures projected some fantastic
visuals on a drop down screen over the stage while playing various
instrumental Eno pieces from a variety of eras. These worked very
well in my opinion, very interesting to watch and the music just loud
enough to allow for conversation on what we had all just experienced.

For more info on the show and what it was about you can check out
www.thenoise-boston.com/projecteno There's a plan to repeat the show
on Saturday, September 14th at the Middle East. Those of you who are
not local to the Boston/Cambridge area should seriously consider a
weekend vacation to our area to catch this show, I guarantee that you
will not be disappointed.

My thanks go out again to the Project Eno group:

Peter Moore, Vocals
Gene Dante, Vocals
T Max, Guitar
Glenn Hughes, Guitar
Eddie Nowik, Guitar
Shawn Marquis, Drums
Tamora Gooding, Drums
Joel Simches, Synth
Joe Kowalski, Bass

Keith Infantino did a great job on the sound and Brittonie and Izzy
more than handled the lighting and effects. The costumes, by Penney
Pinette were fantastic, especially the glam outfits on the second
set. Mindy and Kelly were like some kind of surrealistic erotic game
show goddesses framing the stage and interacting with the performers
in ways best seen rather than described. Everything went off very
smoothly and they should all be commended on a very entertaining show.
