Hi,
My name is Ned Massey and I am a singer/songwriter who
was the last signing of John Hammond, the famous
Columbia Records talent scout who signed Bruce
Springsteen(and Bob Dylan, Count Basie, Benny Goodman,
Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, and countless
others). Mr. Hammond said in the national press (Wall
Street Journal, L.A. Times, CBS Morning News) that I
was the best thing he'd heard since Dylan and
Springsteen. He was in the process of signing me to
Epic Records (we were in fact in the studio recording
what was to be my first album) when he had a massive
stroke from which he never recovered.
Without Mr. Hammond to guide the project, my deal at
Epic stalled and disappeared. After years of all the
things that can go wrong in the music business(labels
going out of business, etc), I finally finished an
album on my own(on a shoestring budget). It's called
"A Brief Appearance" and you can hear it at my website
http://www.nedmassey.com
You can download it if you like(though I'm hoping
you'll consider buying it). No matter what, it'd be
great if you can find the time to check the site and
my music out. If your interested in corresponding
concerning my association with John Hammond you can e
me at

Also, in the past I have worked with Gary Tallent and
have opened for Nils Lofgren (who I'll be opening for
again in January at The Birchmere in VA).
Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan are the two main
reasons I became a songwriter and it's possible that
if you like their music, you may just like my music
too.
Thanks for letting me intrude on your time
Ned Massey
