Review by Bill Yates, Roots66.com

Poco is back. You didn't know they were gone? You never heard of them? Well,
it's understandable. This is their first album since "Legacy" in 1990. Poco,
originally known as "Pogo," came out of the legendary Buffalo Springfield. The
Poco sound is smooth, light country rock, easy to listen to. And you will want
to listen to them again. Poco consists of Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Jack Sundrud
(he's the newbie—only eighteen years with the band, which started in 1968), and
George Grantham. Young is the most prolific songwriter, providing six of the
eleven on this release. Cotton penned three and Sundrud the remaining two. The
lyrics are of high quality and occasionally clever. When was the last time you
heard a song mentioning Sufis?

In the first song, the singer is missing his lost love, "One Tear at a Time".
"Every Tine I Hear That Train" reminds the singer of the trials of love and that
more of the journey remains. "If Your Heart Needs a Hand", the friend makes
himself available to the heart-broken girl. "Never Loved... Never Hurt Like
This" is a very nice slow ballad about the pain of love lost. "Forever", another
song by Young, is a love ballad (no lost love here). Sunrud's take on the love
ballad is "Never Get Enough", an up-tempo, danceable song.

"If You Can't Stand to Lose" is a song of wise advice to the toung-tied would-be
lover. Cotton's "I Can Only Imagine" is an observation on the unexpectedness and
redemption of love. The rhythmic "Shake It" is about a troubled girl who finds
her release in dancing. (Here's where you find the Sufi). The title, "That's
What Love Is All About", says what this quiet, meditative song is all about. The
subject of title tune for the album, "Running Horse", is the symbol for the
singer's life course.

This is a very nice album. Everything about it works well together. The sound is
smooth, listenable, danceable. For those of you who, like me, had not been
familiar with Poco, this album is a great introduction. And for Poco's fans, it
is long overdue. This album should appeal to a wide audience. recommended.

regards,

RDB
