Running Horse - by Poco. Yes, I said Poco! After a fourteen-year hiatus, the
latest iteration of Poco (veteran band members Rusty Young, Paul Cotton and
George Grantham along with “newcomer” Jack Sundrud) has just released an album
that will delight diehard Poco fans … and make the group some new fans as well.
This is a band that released its very first album in 1969 - long before the term
alt-country had been coined - and inspired other groups like the Eagles and Pure
Prairie League. Thirty-four years later, the current lineup is just as committed
to excellence as the original lineup was. This disc is long overdue. I saw the
band perform in my area a little over two years ago, and they promised us a new
album then. It’s here; it’s excellent; it opens (“One Tear At A Time”) and
closes (“Running Horse”) with songs that ought to be on the FM radio “Hot
Forty.”

regards,

RDB
