• Jim Messina (Friday, Aug. 6, 7:30 p.m.) was an accomplished musician who
started playing the guitar at the age of five. His career in the music industry
began in California as a sound engineer producing and recording albums for new
artists. During the course of producing Buffalo Springfield's second album he
was asked to join the group as their bass player, and when the group disbanded
in 1968, three members - Messina, Richie Furay and Rusty Young formed Poco, a
band known for combining country and rock.
Messina returned to Poco for their 1989 reunion album Legacy, and has enjoyed an
ongoing solo career.
