Come on out to Rancho Nicasio this afternoon if you're out driving in the
country! We've got some very interesting shows this month. Miss Getit
appears with her own 5 piece band at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival, plus
two other shows including the divey Ivy Room in Albany. And June marks the
debut of the Rhumba Bums in Jenner! Just check the link to their website
(from our website) for directions: "The Playhouse is located right behind
the gas station". (on Hwy 1, I assume).

And this month marks a visit from the legendary pianist/vocalist Carol Fran.
Local pianist Wendy Dewitt (of Steve Freund band) is bringing the
R&B/Soul/Blues diva Carol up from Louisiana for one very special show, the
Queens of Boogie Woogie at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. Advance
Tickets are selling fast. Included are Miss Getit as a special guest plus
San Diego piano-powerhouse Sue Palmer (Candye Kane), for an evening of
boogie woogie & blues. Steve Lucky threatens to make an appearance too.
This is a must for piano lovers - there'll be lots of it, all by it's
lonesome and sometimes with Kent Bryson on drums). Ticket giveaways on KZSU
Radio Saturday June 8 (see below for details).

And for blues lovers, the historic Eli's Mile High Club in N. Oakland is
re-opening the first week of June. We've got a couple of groovy Hammond
Cheese shows. Outdoor seating, cocktails, dinner, dancing.

Steve Lucky’s "HAMMOND CHEESE COMBO" is a quartet featuring Lucky on the
Hammond B3 organ,
Miss Carmen Getit on guitar, Brian Fishler on drums, Scott Edog Petersen on
tenor saxophone, cookin’ up original songs in the groovy soul-jazz tradition
& kooky ‘60s sounds.

The "STEVE & CARMEN SHOW" is a duet (unless due-ly noted) featuring Miss
Getit on vocals and guitar, and Steve Lucky on piano and vocals, performing
original songs and covers from the ‘20s – ‘60s in the roots R & B and blues
tradition.

“CARMEN GETIT!”, the band, is a quintet featuring Miss Getit on lead vocals
and lead
guitar, Steve Lucky on piano and vocals, Brian Fishler on drums and vocals,
Scott Edog Petersen on sax, and Lukas Vesely on upright bass.
They play original songs and covers in the ‘50s – ‘60s roots R & B and
blues tradition.

"QUEENS OF BOOGIE WOOGIE"
All hail the triumphant return of the Queens of Boogie Woogie! This
evening's musical royalty includes vocalist Carol Fran, pianists Sue Palmer
and Wendy DeWitt, and guitarist and singer Miss Carmen Getit in an evening
of solo and duo performances, plus plenty of surprises and
spur-of-the-moment fun, with the able support of drummer Kent Bryson.
Louisiana native Carol, a crystalline-voiced singer with nearly six decades
of smoldering R & B and blues gems to her name, is known for her work with
legendary studio guitarist Clarence Holliman, Guitar Slim, Joe Tex and Lee
Dorsey. Whether wringing a mean moan from her Gibson or shoutin' the blues,
Miss Carmen, the trump card of popular Bay Area jump-swing band the Rhumba
Bums, is known for her powerfully swinging sound. Equally at home with
12-bar blues, boogie woogie, swing, and jazz, Sue Palmer is a major figure
in the San Diego music scene, where she is known for her unique style and
phenomenal left hand. Hard-driving pianist and vocalist Wendy, the return
organizer for this evening of Queenly Boogie, pulls the evening together
with her west coast approach to deep blues and boogie.
