LUCK-E-LETTER SEPTEMBER 04
Hello everybody,
We've been having a ball at outdoor festivals lately, with more coming up
this month. These shows are a great opportunity to bring the kids and the
grandparents. The Rhumba Bums are thrilled to return to the San Francisco
Blues Festival this month with a special set of Jump Blues put together just
for this show. Join us bright and early for our set on Sunday morning at
11:00 a.m., which will also be recorded for the Beale Street Caravan, the
most widely distributed Blues radio program in the world. Beale Street is
tentatively scheduled to record the Carmen Getit! band at the Ivy Room that
same weekend, so come out and be heard.
September marks a performance of The Rhumba Bums in Santa Rosa CA for the
first time in years - so tell your friends! We're looking forward to
playing a double-bill with The Hucklebucks from Sacramento, who were
nominated for outstanding blues band two years in a row, at a new venue
booked by veteran blues promoters Smith and Bowker, The Los Robles Lodge.
The new Pinetop Perkins' CD "Ladies Man" featuring lots of women in blues
including the guitar of Miss Carmen Getit was released last week on MC
Records. It's getting rave critical reviews - can't wait to hear it, rumor
has it there's a copy in the mail headed our way. Look for some shows
coming up in November with the 91 year old legend Pinetop Perkins playing
and singing along side Ms Carmen Getit, blues diva Angela Strehli, and maybe
even the Queen herself, the fabulous Ms. Ruth Brown! We'll keep you posted.
Now stay tuned for our upcoming public shows:
