Oops, forgot to keep you posted. I've mentioned this before: the

you'll get just the monthly newsletter.
Come out and hear the legendary, one-and-only Carol Fran tonight!
Copy of Luck-E-Letter November '04:
Hey everybody,
We've got lots of interesting collaborative shows coming up this month,
including a rare appearance of Steve Lucky's Hammond Cheese Combo. 91 year
old legendary blues/boogie pianist Mr. Pinetop Perkins is coming to town on
his "Ladies Man Tour", which includes just one date in the Bay Area. Steve
Lucky and Carmen Getit are thrilled to join Mr. Perkins, as well as another
Muddy Waters' alumnus Willie Big-Eyes Smith this weekend for two shows.
Some of you know Carmen was part of a live recording session at Rancho
Nicasio with Pinetop and Willie Smith in February, and now Pinetop
celebrates the release of "Ladies Man" on MC Records. It's been called a
"wonderful album" by Billboard Magazine, and features Pinetop with women
artists like Marcia Ball, Madeleine Peyroux, Ruth Brown, Susan Tedeschi,
Odetta, Ann Rabson, Carmen Getit and more. More info about the CD can be
found at mc-records.com
Also this month the dynamic 71 years young Carol Fran comes to the Bay Area
for just one show with the Carmen Getit! band. Lafayette LA native and
resident Carol is a treasure - a very soulful vocalist and hilarious
entertainer. Playing piano and singing in her own very personal style,
Carol takes you through down-home blues, jazz standards, New orleans R & B,
and even throws in a country tune or two. We're very excited to perform
again with Carol in such an intimate setting. Also that night we'll
celebrate Mr. Francis Clay's birthday, yet another Muddy Waters' alumnus.
We hope to hear Francis recite some of his poetry, and perhaps sit in on
drums. Two local bluesicians are tying the knot that same afternoon in San
Francisco, and rumor has it the whole darn reception full of musicians and
music lovers will flood into Biscuits and Blues later in the night, so get
there early. For an interesting article about Carol including a photo from
1957 and a great Elvis story, check out

Later in the month the Rhumba Bums are excited to make their debut in Sonora
at the Christmas Craft and Music Festival, where we join lots of great
musical acts including special entertainment just for kids. And the Bums
also make their debut in Cotati, CA, at a Natural Foods Store! Now a few of
us in the band have played inside car dealerships many times, but I think a
grocery store is a first for most of us. Apparently once a year Oliver's
Natural Foods Market celebrates with a live band. So if dancers show up and
perform aerials, could they be busted for *shoplifting*? ouch...couldn't
resist.
