Hey everybody,

Happy New Year! The Bums are coming to Southern Cal in March. The Rhumba
Bums were part of swing scenes in MGM's Be Cool, due to open in theatres
March 4th. Thought it would be fun to celebrate with some of the many
dancers that were featured in the scenes. (who knows how much of the band &
dancers will make the final edit!). We have a couple of dates, but are
still looking to fill Saturday night, March 12. Let us know if you have any
ideas!

This weekend we're bringing the Rhumba Bums to the mountains for a couple of
shows in Lake Tahoe, with no cover charge. Next week Steve & Carmen bring
their duet to Mexico at a new venue which has opened in Zihuatanejo right on
the beach. Come escape the rain with us.

Later this month marks the 4th Annual Boogie Woogie Piano Summit, presented
by Jazz at Pearl's and Steve Lucky. Fans of boogie woogie piano will not
want to miss this unique gathering of talent. S.E. Willis, Eric Shifrin and
Steve Lucky kick things off at Friday's Dinner show, with Dave Mathews and
Mr. B taking the bandstand for Friday's Cocktail Show. On Saturday,
featured artists are Wendy DeWitt, Frederick Nighthawk and Caroline Dahl at
the Dinner show, with Mr. B and Carol "Sonny" Leyland featured at Saturday
nights Cocktail Show. Many of you music fans know these great musicians who
make their home in the Bay Area, and joining them from Southern Cal will be
UK native Carl "Sonny" Leyland, and from Ann Arbor, Michigan, the
incomparable Mark "Mr. B" Braun. Be prepared for some guest appearances and
impromptu piano orgies (just how many hands can play at one time?).

Speaking of pianists, we found out that Pinetop Perkins' "Ladies Man" CD
which Carmen Getit played on has been nominated for a Grammy, look for some
more live shows with Carmen & Pinetop and maybe Ruth Brown! coming up in
March.

original songs and covers from the ‘20s – ‘60s in the roots R & B and blues
tradition. The quartet version features Lukas Vesely on the bass, and Brian
Fishler on the drums.
