Happy Turkey Day!

Luck-E-Letter November 05: Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums
Hello All,

Join us this month at the '40s roadhouse-turned-supperclub, Rancho Nicasio, in Marin.  If you've ever thought about coming there to see us (and haven't made it yet), or if you've been there and know what a good time it is, now is the perfect occasion to check it out.  We haven't had very healthy turn-outs at Rancho Nicasio lately, and if we don't get you in there, they may not be able to have us back again....so this is a rare cajoling on our part for you to do YOUR part - Come On Out!  Not only is the Rancho is a great place to see a show, but you can have dinner, enjoy the spacious wood dance floor, and be sure to check out the old western artwork in the side rooms.  I mean it...we want you there!

We had a ball last month in Southern California, debuting at a great venue called Humphrey's in San Diego, and the Imperial Ballroom in Fullerton and a return to the fabulous Derby.  By the way, there is a large group of people trying to save the Derby.  Plans have been filed to tear down this historic landmark and put in condos.  For more information visit www.savethederby.com.  It's simple to sign their on-line petition and forward their email letters to key decision makers listed on the site. Carmen Getit's been baking the chiffon cake with buttercream frosting (the
recipe they sold to Duncan Hines) since she was a child.  She learned the recipe from the Brown Derby cookbook her aunties bought for her mom while vacationing in Los Angeles in 1951.  Here's another tid-bit for you foodies, The Derby is also credited with inventing the Cobb salad.  The website has tons of film and TV trivia associated with the '40s & '50s era Derby, plus lots of great old photos - like when it was part of the set of the 70s sit-com Happy Days..

p.s. We apologize if a few of you received a similar note a few weeks ago.  We’re having problems with our email program.  If anyone knows a newsletter program they like, could you let us know?  We’d like one which allows users to subscribe and unsubscribe automatically, with zero spam (we’ll pay if we have to), and the ability to choose to receive the newsletter every month or only when we’re performing in specific regions.

Hope to see you soon, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Now stay tuned for our upcoming shows:
