Hello friends of Bums,
Spring is
definitely here, so it’s time to spring into action. And one of
best actions I can think of is to go out and hear some LIVE music! Come
listen, come watch, come dance, whatever, ‘s all good! And we have
some great ideas of where you can do just that…..
Wednesday April 8th come on out to the Ashkenaz in
Saturday April 18th we make our debut at the Coyote Valley Casino in Calpella (the
suburbs of Ukiah!). We haven’t been to Ukiah yet this year and
we’re always excited to get a chance to see all the great and groovy
people of eastern Mendocino descent. (That could be more of an ascent,
actually.) The casino is starting a new entertainment series and has
decided to kick it off with a full-on Rhumba Bums show. So come out and
get Lucky!
On Friday April 24th, we’re
honored to perform at a dance concert and benefit for the Foothill Theater
Company in Grass Valley. The
Foothill Theater Company is a fantastic regional theater group that presents
world-class productions in the western Sierra foothills. You’ll
definitely have a great time supporting a great cause at this event, featuring
dance lessons by Jitterbugs, Inc., non-host beer and wine, and of course, a
rousing performance by Steve & Carmen and the Rhumba Bums.
The Baby
Corner: You’ve asked for updates on the newest Rhumba Bum, so we
oblige: Monique Rose is 29 months old and has finally told us she
doesn’t like us. Of course it doesn’t last long, and
it’s hard to take it personally when she throws the cat into the list of
“un-liked”. She also says she loves us and gives us
hugs, and when mommy returned from the beauty salon yesterday with a fresh cut
and color, she asked to be picked up, looked mom in the eye and said “you
look pitty mommy” (pretty), and then put her arms around mom’s neck
for a big hug. Dad warned she would get whatever she wanted with that
type of talk, and mom told him not to be surprised since he’s been using
the same tactic for years.
