LADYFEST TX ANNOUNCES MUSIC HEADLINERS! THE BUTCHIES, MS. LED, BONFIRE
MADIGAN, ANNA OXYGEN WILL PLAY 2004 FESTIVAL

April 13, 2004 (AUSTIN, TX) - Ladyfest Texas, the non-profit, DIY
music and arts festival is proud to announce its musical headliners!
The Butchies <http://www.thebutchies.com/>, Ms. Led
<http://www.lesliwood.com/>, Bonfire Madigan
<http://www.bonfiremadigan.com/> and Anna Oxygen
<http://annaoxygen.com/> will top the 2004 festival.

North Carolina's punk-rock trio The Butchies, formed from the ashes of
the legendary Team Dresch, are well-known for their smart lyrics,
on-stage antics, and fierce, vital rock and roll. The Butchies'
latest release, Make Yr Life (Yep Roc), treads the same waters as
previous albums like Population 1975 and Are We Not Femme?, but oozes
with maturity, focus and a good dose of self-reflection. The album is
a colossal, intimate connection between the unrivaled punk-rock trio
and their audience. The band describes Make Yr Life as, "It's like
waking from a coma, or like having your dog lick away your tears, or
like the first kiss with that sexy girl with moonlight splashed on her
face." Enough said.

Seattle-based Ms. Led's music contains equal parts crunchy power-pop,
punk rock energy and singer/songwriter intimacy with a decidedly
feminist message. Ms. Led has been referred to as a must-see live
show by critics and fans alike. Sketchy Magazine proclaims, "With a
sound like a cranked up Foo Fighters in a progesterone fit, this
Northwestern quartet has been garnering raves for its high-energy live
shows…This is ballsy rock from one of the hardest rocking grrrl bands
around."

The San Francisco Bay Guardian calls Madigan Shive of Bonfire Madigan,
"the Bruce Springsteen of chamber punk". Bonfire Madigan is an
avant-pop, chamber-rock experiment that combines fiery vocals and
cello with mastery. Listeners are kept on their toes with aural
twists and turns bolstered by beautiful and rich harmonies. The
upcoming release from Bonfire Madigan, i bleed, is a collection of
songs from Shive's first 10 years composing and performing her
ineffable music.

A veteran from the very first Ladyfest in Olympia, WA, Anna Oxygen
puts a new spin on new wave dance music. Armed with a drum machine and
versatile pipes, Oxygen reinvents 80's synth-pop for the new
millennium with high-energy, multimedia performances. Last year, she
released her first full length album All Your Faded Things on the Dim
Mak/Cold Crush label. Kathleen Wilson of Seattle's The Stranger
described Oxygen's debut as, "smooth…her launch and eventual faultless
landing is fluidly expansive." She weaves her stories into catchy and
surreal pop tunes while using innovative tactics (aerobic dance, raps,
and even dance tutorials) to draw her audience into the party.

Ladyfest Texas 2004 <http://www.ladyfesttx.org> will take place May 27
- 30, 2004 at creative spaces in Austin, TX such as Emo's, The
