Can anyone decipher what he's singing on this song? It's on the Hot Sauce cd.

Thanks.

Bonjour a vous-autres tous,

I would like to ask all of you something. Any of you know about Creole Zydeco

This site is supposed to be for both, but most of the requests and posts have
been for Cajun.  There are some creole or zydeco tunes scattered through the
list.

And, you can always ask for lyrics to a certain song, and see if anyone can
replicate it for you.  Very helpful people on here, but creole french is a
little further removed from standard french sometimes and some parts of the
lyrics might be unintelligible.

Thanks for the answer, then I'll look up for the songs on Youtube, someone gave
me some names, and I'll ask the group for the lyrics, my problem was that there
are there many Cajun songs even with lyrics, but I only could track down one or
two in Creole, Z'haricots est pas salé, and one by Geno Delafose, a mixture of
Creole and Cajun French..

Regards,

J. Martin

I have a track from a live event cd with this song on it. I think Bluerunners is
the primary band, but there's folks like Sonny Landreth sitting in. Medicine
Show something or other event.

Does anyone have this track and can let me know the lyrics? Or, I can email the
track to whomever would like to help.

Actually, I'll upload the track to the FILES section.

And now the lyrics in English

I fell into troubles
It wasnt my fault, sisters and brothers
I made the promise
That I would escape my misery
But now I run to save my life
Like a men Im getting ready
For my day with the devil
Check out how I play this game
And run, maybe die, in the big woods
Run to die in the big woods

A possum for dinner
Raccoon for my pillow
The frogs sound good
But I want to see Africa and my family
And kill my king who set me fate
To put his head on my pole
The vultures and the dogs can have the rest
While I sleep in the arms of my wives
And forget all about these days of a runaway life

Run to die in the big woods

Wordreference.com is a million times better, though you still need some basic
understanding of the grammar and conjugations. Or even better than that, learn
it on your own!

First line is roughly 'like a man I'm readying myself, for my day with the
Devil'.

What I said was "pour un an, j'ai preparé", or 'for a year, I prepared'.
Actually in retrospect, the existing lyrics sound better.

I wonder if they drew inspiration for this song from the French coureurs de bois
of the 18th century, the explorers and pioneers who lived among the natives on
the American frontier. The melody also sounds a lot to me like 'My True Love' by
the Balfa Brothers.

I'm trying to write a song.

I'm wondering how this would translate to cajun french:

What you going to do?

I get "qu'allez vous faire" from the google translator. What would cajun french

I need something that fits within roughly 4-5 syllables.

In Ann Savoy's book, in the lyrics to "Quo' Faire" she translates
" quoi donc que mon je vas faire" as "So what am I gonna do"
...........

"quoi donc que toi, tu vas faire" might work for "So what are you gonna do"
or maybe "quo' toi, t'vas faire."

Anyone know the lyrics he's singing on his version of the song. Highly

Oh, t'fille,

Haven't logged on here in an age...and was stymied in my feeble attempts to
transcribe this tune (Shuk Richard/Marie Falcon, off of Arhoolie "Cajun Honky
Tonk").

I was about to post a lyrics request here, and fortunately searched the files
and yay!, there it was (under a slightly different name). Thank you so
much--when you need it, this site/group is priceless! --Skip

I'm not a Zydeco fan, so I had to Google this one. Found it on YouTube, hope
it's the one you were looking for.

Lake Charles Two Step, by Horace Trahan -

Comment j'va faire?
C'est moi tout seul.
Tu connais je t'aime
(Avec) tout mon couer.
Comment j'va faire?
Moi, j'su tout seul.

Hey, tite fille
Comment j'va faire?
Moi, j'su tout seul.
Tu connais je t'aime
(Avec) tout mon couer.
Comment j'va faire?
Moi, j'su tout seul.

Another one I came across- Lake Charles Two Step by the Bourbon Street Ramblers.

Oh, si tu veut un bon temp
Si tu veut danser
Allons juste moi et toi
Ouais, la-bas a grand Lake Charles.

Oh tous les samedi soirs
Avec ma chere bebe
Ouais, allons juste moi et toi
La-bas a grand Lake Charles.

Jams. She is learning to sing French Cajun songs. She speaks no French but
sings very well in the French language. She would like to learn to play
the Cajun accordion. She has tried to find an accordion teacher in the
