okay...here's my 2 cents...
there was supposed to be an opener, but for some reason, she didn't
appear. the show started about 7:30 and the set list is below.
carlene did have a band with her (guitar, bass & drums) and she played
guitar almost every song.
here's the set list:
I'm So Cool
Every Little Thing
Sweet Love ?? (new song about how she met joe)
Sweet Meant to Be
Unbreakable Heart
Easy From Now On
I'm On To You ?? (another new one that is GREAT!!!)
Poor Old Heartsick Me (written by her Aunt Helen)
Dixie Darlin
Ring of Fire (which KICKED ASS!!)
Too Drunk to Remember
Change Your Heart ?? (another new one)
Cry
Hurricane
I Fell in Love (with audience participation)
she then thanked the audience and said...oh, we're coming back for an
encore, so why leave the stage...
she said the next song she was going to do was a song about her little
sister, rosie, whom she misses terribly and how much she misses her
grandma. she said it was hard for her to do the song, as it oftens
gets her choked up, but she wanted to do it because it has so many
wonderful memories for her and then she did:
Me and the Wildwood Rose (and she did choke up, as did i) which led into
Will the Circle be Unbroken
that was it...much too short, if you ask me. it ended about 8:45 or so.
she came out after the show and sat up on the stage, signing
autographs, picture taking with some fans and i was all set to say hi,
when (i guess) her manager escorted her off the stage and she was
gone. there were about 5 more people in line (me being one of them)
so we were very disappointed.
the room was almost full, so she got a good turnout...she chatted with
the audience throughout the show and she was so funny!! she said she
felt since she is really the last carter to be performing...she needed
to carry on the family tradition. she talked a good bit about her
mom, johnny, her grandma and her aunt helen. she mentioned she has
been in the studio with her brother and she thinks she has about half
of it finished.
the show was great...she had a little bit of trouble with her monitor
in the beginning of the show so she was a little off-key, she had a
bit of a problem with some of the high notes (but she DID yodel during
Wildwood Rose) and my friend said he thought she was a little
pitchy...but the bottom line was i thought she was wonderful, i just
loved her and was SO happy to have been at that show and it sounded
like heaven to me! i wish all the best for her and i am really
looking forward to her new cd.
hope that helps you sort of envision what it was like being there....
