Hey Auggie,
My name is Enna and I am from Tucson, AZ. I have been playing
guitarron. . . well let's just say longer than you have been alive. In
the past when I have taught the guitarron to a new comer I start
by explaining how to correctly hold the instrument. The nut
should be level to your left shoulder, the strap should be placed
in the middle of the instrument where it conects at the bottom,
etc. Hang it on them like a table so they get that uncomfortable
feel and explain to your sucessor that it should not hurt to play
guitarron. Oh and no leaning on the box with your right forearm.
From there tell them the name of the open strings and have
them memorize them. go on to teaching the Do ( C maj) scale.
When they master that one (up and down ) show them how to
get the 1a, 2a and 3a with accompaning notes. from there go on
to teach them a simple song in that key explaining the
pasadas/passages (runs) that connect the 1a, 2a, and 3a.
Repeat these steps for all the popular keys: Re (D maj), Mi (E
maj), Fa (F maj), Sol (G maj), La (A maj) Si bemol (B flat maj).
Hope this helps out. If you need more direction feel free to drop
me an e-mail.
Take Care,
Enna
