Johan Liljencrants' home-built band organ   Message List

Hi all,

I want to let you know about the work of Johan Liljencrants, who built a
self-playing all-acoustic organ over the past few years, based on carousel-organ
models, but with a large dollop of his own creativity.

I'd encourage you to check out his site which includes pictures, sound clips,
technical details, and even a transmlation of a newspaper article that appeared
in his hometown.

http://www.fonema.se

Dr. Liljencrants is one of those rare people who combine scientific and
engineering brilliance, creativity, good musical taste, and great teaching
ability.

Also, you should know about the Mechanical Music digest,
(http://mmd.foxtail.com) which is THE source for all things musical and
technical about not only carousel organs but also player pianos, orchesrions,
and other automatic instruments. In fact there is still active R&D and
commercial instrument making going on in this field.

enjoy!

-DG
