An online friend of mine named Andy Bakke also creates MIDI and MP3 files. He has posted a number of his MP3 files at eSnips.com, and I have, with his permission, created this website which showcases a number of them:
May I suggest you post your carousel MP3's at eSnips. I'd like to create a website showcasing them!
With best wishes,
Dudley

OK Dudley, here goes!
Have you made it possible to directly post files to the group?
Please resend the MP3 file (and any others you care to share). The file you sent was removed from your message because e-mail attachments are not allowed. However, I have reconfigured the group so that it should now be accepted.
Dudley,
Yahoo often 'loses' postings. Or they suddenly turn up days later. Very
peculiar.
There is, of course, a problem for us here on the 'other side' in the
time difference, where we are so far ahead of you in the US. Our day is
your night and vice versa. So it could take some time for you to see a
posting from me.
I have long known that there is just a small number of people who are
genuinely interested in Band/Fairground/Carousel/Street/Dance Organs and
other Mechanical Music Machines. A few of us afficionados are into MIDI
as well, and perhaps try to replicate the sounds of Mechanical Organs.
I am also very much into Theatre Organ, and for years have been playing
around with Virtual TPOs, SoundFonts and MIDI files using SoundFonts (or
adaptations thereof.)
One of the problems with posting a MIDI file which uses SoundFonts is
that the listener has to have the same SoundFont on their computer, and
then has to load that SoundFont (or Attach it, as Cakewalk says) in
order to hear the same sound. If the listener doesn't have the
SoundFont, then their computer will use GM, and the sound may be very
strange if not horrible!
Because of that, I am attaching an MP3 which I recorded from playing the
slightly edited MIDI file from the group page, where I have used the
Cinema Organ SoundFont made by Bruce Miles of England years ago, which
is not sampled sounds but synthesised, and I have used this for a long
time to convert various MIDI files into Theatre Organ or Band Organ
performances. As I said, If you don't have that same SoundFont, you
won't hear the MIDI file played the same as I would.
In the very early days of MIDI, Eugene Hayek of New Jersey made quite a
few MIDI files to replicate the sound of the Band Organ just using GM,
and they were pretty damn good! He may still have some or all of those
MIDI files. I'll ask him about it. I did try substituting voices from
the Cinema Organ SoundFont way back then, to get a more authentic sound,
and that is pretty much what I have just done with this file. Have a listen.
Of course, a lot more things can be done with the file. This was just a
fairly quick job so that you can compare the MIDI as you posted, and
what it could sound like. I hope you do like it.
I can do the same thing with the other files and send the MP3s for
everyone to hear them.
And then I may be able to post some reasonable MIDI files as well, I
just have to locate them.
Sorry this is a bit long-winded, there is just so much to be said on the
subject!

Hi Ron,
I approved your message but, for some reason, Yahoo! disappeared it.
Yes, please do send some MIDI for comparison.
Thanks!

Dudley,
This is a copy of an email I sent yesterday which failed to appear. I
don't know whether that was a problem with Yahoo or was not posted
because of my comments or the fact that I offered to send a file or two?
The file named 'carousel2.mid' (labelled Ragstomp.rol) is in fact Scott
Joplin's 'Ragtime Dance'
and by the way, I don't particularly like that rendering of it! The
strings and bells don't make for a good sound at all. Piano rags don't
always transcribe well to other instruments, but they can sound pretty
good when done with some care.
Could I perhaps send some files from those very same MIDIs to make a
comparison?

Actually, for the record, "Blaze Away" is no more a British march than John
Philip Sousa's "Liberty Bell" (which Monty Python used as their theme for
"Monty Python's Flying Circus.") Abe Holzmann was an American composer
during the early 20th century and "Blaze Away" was published here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abe_Holzmann
"Blaze Away" is very popular on band organ and fairground organ
arrangements.

Hello Dudley And Group:
I just finished going over the tunes on the group website and I can
identify almost all but two. Here they are with the title on the web site
followed by the actual title:
American Patrol - El Capitan March (J.P. Sousa)
Carousel - ?????? That One I don`t know
Carousel Fantasy - The Merry Go Round Broke Down
Carousel Polka - ?????? I didn`t know that one either
Carousel Song - Blaze Away (This is a British March very popular in
England; Nearly every band organ in England I have heard plays this tune)
The last three tune titles are correct.
Hope that helps

Dudley,
The one you are showing as "Carousel Song" is the Repasz Band March.
I'm not absolutely sure but I suspect that the one you are calling
"Carousel Fancy" is based on "The Marry-Go-Round Broke Down" by Cliff Friend
and
David Franklin. It seems to be missing the introduction used by Warner Bros.
as the Loony Tunes theme. I could be mistaken on this but at lease it
gives you something to compare it to.

Hi Everyone,
The other day, I had the good fortune to see a movie called "The Apostle," and I
absolutely loved it!
The film was a labor of love on the part of Robert Duvall, who wrote, directed,
starred in, and funded its production. It is one of the few religious movies I
have seen that do not present Christians and Christianity in an unfavorable
light.
That is not to say that the chief character, a Pentecostal preacher named
"Sonny," is perfect or faultless--far from it. He is, however, rather than being
a fake or a phony, the genuine article--a man of faith truly sold out to
God--lock, stock, and barrel.
This movie can be rented from your local video store, and some public libraries
carry it. It can also be purchased from Amazon.com through this link:
http://tinyurl.com/the-apostle
I highly recommend this production. Don't miss it!
With best wishes,

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a bright and beautiful
Easter and Passover Season and to respectfully request your prayer support.
I am the plaintiff in a civil suit against my former landlord, who improperly
withheld my security deposit after I vacated my apartment on October 1, 2008.
Repeated attempts to settle this dispute out of court have been unsuccessful.
The trial is scheduled for April 27th in Virginia Beach General District Court.
Since I can't afford a lawyer, I will be representing myself.
Please pray that God will give me and my witnesses the courage and the grace to
make an effective presentation and that justice will be done.
Thanking you in advance, I am,
Very sincerely,

Hi Everyone,
When I was a little boy growing up in New York City, I developed rickets, a
disease caused by a lack of vitamin D. It resulted in deep bone pain in both
legs, and caused me to become "knock-kneed." To treat it, I remember my mother
giving me a dose of cod liver oil every day in a glass of orange juice.
At the present time, I take 2000 IU of vitamin D3 daily in convenient,
inexpensive capsule form, and an additional 400 IU in my multi-vitamin/mineral
tablet.
Vitamin D deficiency is much more common than most people realize, especially in
Northern latitudes, and can have extremely detrimental effects on one's health
and well-being (far worse even than rickets). To learn more, I urge you to visit

Merry Christmas, Everyone!
If you believe God is still in the miracle-working business, you may find of
interest the following information about what many are calling a "miracle drug."
Naltrexone is a medication approved in 1984 by the U.S. Food and Drug

proving to be amazingly effective in treating HIV/AIDS, cancer, and a host of
autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases--with minimal side effects and at a
