Hi everybody! Many of you probably know this, but for those who don't,
the Comsat Angels have 3 albums in the iTunes Store for the first time
ever:

1. My Minds Eye – First released in 1992, this is considered by many to
be their finest album — each track is a gem!

2. The Glamour – Their final album, released in 1995. A harder edge and
a hint of grunge here and there.

3. To Before – A collection of demos plus a few studio tracks. Songs
like Something's Got To Give and Venus Hunter are standouts, as well as
Transport Of Delight, Lost Continent, Carried Away, Ice Sculpture,
She's Invisible and Born Again.

Visit the store, buy the music, spread the word!

I saw TuxedoMoon fourth time in last 7 years - and once saw magnificient Nine
Rain with Steven Brown in controls:-) Pure bliss. In every occasion they are
nothing less than brilliant. On this tour they played bunch of new songs from
forthcoming album, and they sound like MONSTER. If you are fan or respect them
from period of Half Mute, Desire and Holy Wars it will be something worth
unpatiently waiting for :-) If you like them after that, liked Cabin In The Sky
or solo projects, this will be also fantastic stuff
Huge and Massive bass with recognizible habitus from Peter Principle, incredible
guitar work from Blaine Reininger -with frantic violin work, Luc Van Lieshout
and Steven Brown on trumpet, clarinet, saxophones and work of drum machine gig
was almost like waiting in Bardo Hotel for our "turn".
Incredible version of Some Guys on encore. Also, i picked new DVD Super 8 Years
woth band coverage in last 25 years-must for every TM fan.
They are in Europe, so check them and catch them if you can :-)

i put some photos here..

Sorry it’s taken me a few days to recover from all the
craziness…..what a weekend!

We'd met up with Mark when they rolled into town and
after a quick dinner and a quick sight-seeing trip
around town, decided to go grab drinks before hand at
the club they were playing. Met up with Yves and
Achim, and the opening act, The Rescue Mission, once
they got to the venue and what a pleasure it was
meeting them all.

As promised....I'll rattle off what my brain retained.
I was too scattered by all the events surrounding the
evening (and the giant shots of tequila I’d nursed
early on ) to commit the exact order of the playlist
to memory but we got Invincible tracks: Spooks (when I
heard the soundcheck for this I about shat), Think,
Dangerous, Shiver, & Gethsemene. As for Chameleons
stuff we got: Second Skin, Perfume Garden, Looking
Inwardly. Then we got at LEAST 3 BIRD songs, one of
which was titled "Beast" and was fuckin FABULOUS as
were the other two. Sadly I didn't catch the titles of
the others, but *WOW*! Lastly, we were treated to a
cover of a Fall song, but I don’t know the name of it
(I’m dreadful at retaining song titles). The venue was
*TINY* and it was incredibly intimate but ROCKIN AS
EVER!!! There weren’t a ton of people there, but it
was a nice crowd, and those that were there, were
thrilled and appreciative of the chance to see Mark
and the band in Dallas, FINALLY! The band was
absolutely STELLAR! Yves’ guitar skills had me
absolutely floored, and Achim blew me away as well.
Even on such a tiny stage, they carried it off
perfectly.

The opening act, Rescue Mission was absolutely fucking
fantastic as well, and were all SUPER nice, and
treated us to an incredible cover of A View from a
Hill. http://www.myspace.com/rescuemissionmusic
They’re from Austin, Texas and I’m looking extremely
forward to seeing them play again soon. They’re the
ones responsible for getting Bird over here in the
first place this tour, so fall at their feet folks.
Great band, great people. Check them out!

We finished up the evening with even more hanging out
& lots of great conversation (until the bar threw us
all out LOL). We (my husband and I) left the others
and took off with Mark, as he was staying with us for
the night. We stayed up until the near break of dawn,
and our dog Speck spent most of the time upside down
in Mark’s lap begging his constant attention LOL. Woke
up groggily a mere 4 or so hours later, drank lots of
coffee, talked too long, realized we were CRAZY late,
Mark took quick pix, and I whisked him back to the
others waiting (and foot tapping) outside their hotel,
I bid them all a fond adieu, and drove off past the
grassy knoll on my way home again.

What a magical time. A dream really. I’ll treasure the
memories for a lifetime and cherish the friendships
made for all eternity.

Joanna,

what a great little critique - definitely seems to have caught the atmosphere.

I was fortunate enough to get to The Chameleons London comeback gig - just
thinking about it now still get the shivers as "Silence Sea & Sky" launched into
"Swamp Thing"

Will try and catch "Bird" if they get to the UK again - have been unlucky so
far.

Loved the Kilbey quote at the end - he's a God too !

Regards - Richard

Hello!

Is anyone planning to head to Hoboken for tonight's show at Maxwell's? It would
be nice to
have a bite and a drink beforehand as I expect to be there a bit on the early
side.

Also, it would be great to split cab fare back to Manhattan (or even a
less-alone ride on the
PATH) afterwards if anyone else is needing to get back into the city...

Less than 12 hours to go! I'm so excited.

Why, thank you Richard!

T'was a great experience all around. Mark'd never
played Texas before, so it was a real treat to have
him play here after sooooooooooo many years.

I'd flown out to L.A. for the 2 Chameleons reunion
gigs at the Knitting Factory ('02?), and it took me a
literal year or two to let myself fully reminisce
about the whole experience because it was so, so HUGE
of an event in my life. Such magic. Still shiverin'
over here too :D

My holy Trinity of Lyricists/Writers/Singers?

Mark Burgess, Steve Kilbey, Edward Ka-Spel, and
because I can't leave him out, Chris Connelly.

I got to see the church this last year a couple 'o
times and hear they should be touring again later this
year? So keep your eyes and ears peeled!

Best to ya!
Joanna

I've never run across this recording on peer-to-peer, so I ripped my
cassette copy. . .

I'm still finalizing file set, so for now, here's Less Than Human, the
sixth track.

(Megaupload wants you to type the 3 digit code at upper right into the
text field, then hit the download button. That's its way of making
sure you're not a robot.)

Cheers,
Andy

DAT Master
Sony TCD-8 w/ 2 audio technica 831b mics->wavelab->flac frontend->make
torrent 2

Recorded about 10ft in front of center stage. The mics were underneath
a bandana and
you can hear a little static type of sound inbetween a few of the
songs but I don't think it
detracts from anything. You can hear the sound samples and judge for
yourself.

One other note- The opening band 'Rescue Mission' covered "View From A
Hill" to which
Mark climbed on the stage and sang the second half of the song with
them. Unfortunately I
did not get to record this.

Disc 1
1-Looking Inwardly
2-Gethsemene
3-Feel The Need
4-Spooks
5-Kinks
6-This Passionate Breed
7-Shiver
8-Dangerous
9-Perfume Garden
10-Only You Can Save Me

Disc 2
1-Think (It's Going To Happen)
2-The Beast
3-encore break-
4-Frightened (The Fall)
5-Second Skin

Peter,

I can't get on the dimeadozen site - no account slots available.

Can I grab it without using the tracker? i.e. using the torrent file
directly?

Cheers,

R.

Sounds like a great recording! I'll remember that trick with the
bandana. . . Hope a public torrent becomes available.

Most of the well-known file hosting sites would do the trick as
well. . . megaupload requires registration for files greater than
500M, but mediafire or easy-share should work.

Thanks for that, but there's only 0.7% of the file available, as
you've likely gone offline yourself. You'd have to stay online to
'seed' (as the original source) until others have all the parts and
take over sharing this.

I grabbed this overnight - it's well worth a listen. Pretty good quality
for a live recording.

As usual, Perfume Garden brought tears to my eyes.

Awesome.

Apologies if these have already been recommended but thought they're well worth
a listen for everyone on here. In fact i may have even recommened them before.
Thats my memory as it is today.

Great to see Mark wowing them in the US.
Hopefully Rescue Mission can make it over here. Would love to see them too

Placed a few pix in an album under the link to photos... have a few
others, but not sure they turned out as good as these... I also have
a few of Rescue Mission if interested.

Twas quite a show... my buddy and I have been huge Chameleon fans
back to our DJ years at college in 84-87. Never saw them back then
though... and then I was in Iowa when they toured Atlanta in '01 I
think it was... if only I could have seen the rest of The
Chameleons...

So this was special for us - talk about goose bumps - when they
started the show with "Looking Inwardly" and later when
playing "Perfume Garden" and closing with Second Skin" - we had 'em.

I read the set list from I think the Hoboken show and the Atlanta
one was identical, including the "View From A Hill" cover by Rescue
Mission (who we both quite liked).

I was able to grab Yves' set list and will scan and post also if
interested - quite a guitarist!

TAFN...

Wish I'd been there! I'd always heard the intensity in Ian's
singing, but at last I can see it too:

BBC performance, mp4 compression, each about 8 megs. They should
play with any recent version of iTunes or QT.

Added 2 more jpg's to the Yahoo Photos Album for this mailing list...

The picture I got capturing Mark Burgess singing "View From A Hill"
with Rescue Mission (lead singer - Chad Pearman). Such a pleasant
surprise!

Also I scanned Yves Set list...

Enjoy! I did!
