Re: mystery cd

Llew, thank you for your help. Using what you wrote
as a guide, I went to a collection of Royal Roost
recordings. I was able to play the tracks on each
collection side-by-side to positively identify five
tracks. They are:

1 Charlie Parker with Kenny Dorham, Al Haig, Tommy
Potter, Joe Harris live at the Royal Roost in New York
City, 1 January 1949: Ornithology (Charlie
Parker-Benny Harris). quote from Jingle Bells (4:39)

3 Charlie Parker with Kenny Dorham, Al Haig, Tommy
Potter, Joe Harris live at the Royal Roost in New York
City, 1 January 1949: Groovin' High (Dizzy Gillespie).
(4:42)

5 Charlie Parker with Kenny Dorham, Al Haig, Tommy
Potter, Joe Harris live at the Royal Roost in New York
City, 1 January 1949: Be-Bop (Dizzy Gillespie). (3:44)

9 Charlie Parker with Miles Davis, Al Haig, Tommy
Potter, Max Roach live at the Royal Roost in New York
City, 18 December 1948: How High The Moon (Nancy
Hamilton-Morgan Lewis). (2:46)

12 Charlie Parker with Miles Davis, Al Haig, Tommy
Potter, Max Roach live at the Royal Roost in New York
City, 12 December 1948: Hot House (Tadd Dameron)
(4:12)

This last track fooled me initially because on the
mystery CD it has been re-equalized and had echo
added. The editing removed any audience sounds. All
of these things combined tricked me into thinking I
was hearing a studio recording, rather than the live
broadcast it is.

I've put one-minute MP3 samples of all 12 tracks in
the files section.

I'll try to find the other recordings you mentioned
and see if I can identify any other tracks by
comparison.

Mark
