Hi all, new guy here. I love Charlies music, and find him a huge
inspiration. My name is Tim, I am a native New Yorker, now
transplanted in Florida. I look forward to engaging in some good
conversation. Here is a few things, to get the ball rolling....
I recently discovered a web site that has streaming audio of live
concerts. While browsing I noticed "Jam at Christys 1949-1952". I
know Christys was a jazz club, so I checked it out. Lo, and behold
Charlie came blasting out of the speakers, only like Bird can. This
recording features (on some of the tracks) Symphony Sid (I believe)
conversing into the microphone about who is playing, a girl dancing,
and certain other things happening in the club. It is a fascinating
recording I have never heard before. Does anyone know about this
recording? I was wondering who the muscians were, and if it is
regularly released anywhere. Maybe on Birds Eyes? Which brings me to
my next topic...
Does anyone here collect the Birds Eyes series? I have about 15
or so volumes. I would love to work out trades, or B&P. If anyone is
interested please drop me a line at timothytim2000@....
Thanks, and sorry for the length...
Tim
