Jazz legend Charlie Parker sought out Edgard Varèse and
Stefan Wolpe as teachers before his death. NEC's performing
forces come together with scholarly experts for this year's spring
festival. Join us as we visit the growth of the modernist aesthetic
through the music of these three masters who respected
virtuosity, the jagged edges of instrumental techniques, and a
clear forthright, unsentimental sound texture. Donald Palma is
the festival's artistic director, with Robert Sadin as artistic
consultant.
