The Immediate Sound Series is pleased to welcome back The REMPIS PERCUSSION
QUARTET to mark the release of their fourth record: The Disappointment of
Parsley on Not Two Records. Led by DAVE REMPIS (saxophones), this band is a free
improvising unit that blends West African and Latin American rhythms with
American funk and free jazz. Their extremely rhythmic aesthetic is the result of
the interplay between two of Chicago’s best drummers: TIM DAISY and FRANK
ROSALY; and the group is now anchored by bassist INGEBRIGT HÃ…KER
FLATEN'S ferocious pulse. The quartet is known for bringing a relentless
intensity to each performance while maintaining a focus on ensemble motion and
compositional structure. After recently completing a two week tour of
Europe with the new line-up, this show is sure to find the group at the height
of their creativity and in true fighting form. One of the most anticipated
concerts of the season, and not to be missed!
