Friends:
I have been in contact three times this weekend with John Kozar, the
manager of PIANO4, about
the pianos for the concert, as well as the program itself.
Since this is the only run-out----they won't be on a tour---the pianists
decided to use the two grand pianos at the Heymann Center, and they
will need two more 7 foot (or nearly that) grand pianos.
Jim Moncus has 3 grands; he is
checking the length of his piano at Butte LaRose
as well as the other one here in town. He would prefer not to send out
the
concert grand.
Chorale owns the 7 foot Yamaha, which would certainly work with the
two Yamahas on the stage at Heymann.
I have a Model M Steinway, which I have offered, but it isn't "long"
enough.
They are welcome to use it, if needed.
Any of you with a seven foot grand piano that you would let them use?
Their schedule is this: Move the pianos into the Heymann Center Friday
morning.
Touch up tuning and then they rehearse in the afternoon and evening.
Saturday morning, they rehearse with the Chorale.
Pianos get tuned in afternoon.
Zeke: You have the contract with them. Does Piano4 pay for the moving
and the tuning? I would think so, since they would have paid for the
moving
of their own pianos, as well as the tuning. Mr. Kozar was wiggling
around about
that issue, of paying for the moving and paying for the tuning. He
said Piano 4
would assume responsibility, if CA did not.
My personal belief is that Piano4 should pay for the moving and the
tuning,
since they are saving $3,000 in moving costs of two pianos from New
Orleans.
I find that John Kozar is very pleasant to work with, and I think we
will have a super time
with them.
Jim Moncus is going to wear Green for St. Patrick's Day.
He is working diligently on his debut piano presentation on that
program;
He has been coming to piano lessons every Monday morning!
Bravo, Jim.
Please take a vote about the Chorale Yamaha......and let me know about
any other 7 footers.
Thanks,
Gerry
