Subject: [chordbusters] quartet package

It seems these days that it is rare that an established quartet can
get together to sing for a special occasion.  If neither Greg nor Tom
are available, that takes out all three established quartets.

How about we create a prefabricated 20-25 minute quartet package that
would help us to meet our request load?

I could help out on tenor on such occasions if I knew in advance what
songs were in the package, and perhaps there are other people in the
chorus that could learn another part (tenor or bari in particular) to
those songs if they knew there would be an occasion to sing.

Something along these lines with short introductions or jokes
sprinkled throughout:

Barbershop Style or Chordbuster March as an opener
Let Me Call You Sweetheart (or something else the over-50 crowd can
sing along with)
Hello Mary Lou
Bye Bye Blues
the mandatory ballad (Old St. Louie?)
This Is My Country
Doom-Ba (I'm Sitting on Top of the World)

If there's a repertoire person/committee, I'm sure he/they can come
up with the best possible list.  Maybe the emcee-oriented among us
can suggest a source for good introductions or jokes?

I would be willing to give it a try if I can get some good Bass learning tapes for our repertoire. Could possibly do lead on most songs. Some of the high notes...
