Hi everyone
I was wondering if any of you have thought about or tried out a
technique called Contemplative Prayer? I'm pretty new to this, but for
those of you who have never heard of it, it's basically is a type of
prayer that involves total silence.
A friend of mine turned me on to a DVD called "Be Still" that is all
about contemplative prayer, why it is important, how to do it, and
what can come out of it. It recommends that you spend 20 minutes of
your day in total silence, being still so you are more aware of
listening to what God may be telling you.
It's a lot to ask in this day and age for anyone to take 20 minutes
out of their day and be still. Think about how fast our culture is-
especially in America! Every thing is faster, faster! Multi-task! Go
go go! I've been working on what the DVD is teaching for a few weeks
now, and it's amazing how much I learn from God just by taking that
time to be silent and just LISTEN. I feel more connected with Him and
it's also nice to have time when I'm not worrying about anything else.
It's really been great for me.
So anyway, I wanted to hear about anyone else's experiences with
contemplative prayer? Or if anyone of you have viewed the Be Still DVD
(Which you can read more about at http://www.bestillprayer.com). I'd
love to hear what your experiences were.
