If you are familiar with the song, it shouldn't be too hard to strum it.

Hello, I am new to this group. I am a youth pastor who has decided
to learn how to play rythm guitar so I can lead my youth in praise
and worship. Would anyone be willing to help me with strumming
patterns to some popular CCM songs? I've found many sites that have
the chord sheets and lyrics but they don't list the strumming
patterns, is this illegal or something? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. God Bless. Mack

Ahh yes, I remember Degarmo & Key. I have their stuff on cass. tape.
Have their greatest hits on CD.
Their music helped get me through my early Christian years when I was
dying for good Christian rock to listen too.
Also early Petra & White Heart, etc.
Remember Sweet Comfort Band (Bryan Duncan lead singer)? They were cool.

I don't know if I'll be participating in the special music yet or
not. I usually do.
If anyone in the group likes motorcycles, this is the place to come.
Last year we had good weather and 2,000+ bikes!
Come early to see the bikes come in and also get coffee and donuts.

Live365 has lots of broadcaster options. If I was independently
wealthy I could set things up so you could choose which song to hear,
but, as it is, you have to wait until it appears.
I sometimes ask it to play songs randomly (which may cause a repeat),
other times I set up an order which gets repeated (which may less
exciting). Their "random" seems wayward, though.
If you had downloaded their player, which is small, you would see the
title, artist, and CD title of each song. I dont know what you see in
winamp. Sorry. But if you can see the ID tags, its all there.
So far, I only put two songs that I wrote and played on the station,
taken from a live show I did. A slow one called "Welcome", and an
upbeat one called "Mama Mama". If you heard them, the titles end up
being obvious. Not perfect recordings, but pretty representative of
my live sound. Both are secular. Just me and guitar, strummed, sort
of.
I have been giving some thought to the secular/Christian ratio, and
to the contemporary/old-timey ratio. I enjoy it all, but I have to
consider my listeners. This is designed to promote Pgh live acoustic
music. If I put too much Christian music in, I will not develop the
audience I am hoping for.
Actually, I am hoping that with perhaps 10% Christian songs I will
develop and keep a large secular audience, which means, of course
that Christian music will be reaching lots of secular ears. But,
honestly, the point of this project is secular. Any ministry is bonus.
As for contemporary vs old-timey (or guitar vs fiddle), I am guessing
that I will have to develop some scheduled shows to segregate them
somewhat.
Because legalities require at least three hours of material, but also
require less than one song per artist per hour, and I also have
limited upload space, I ended up accepting a lot of songs/artists in
their library that I was unfamiliar with. I was surprised with how
much I liked Shelby Lynne, I never heard of her before, but she got
style!
I removed some of the songs/artists that I found less palatable, and
I am looking forward to having more Pgh music, so I can remove more
national music that I really dont like. I am waiting for promised CDs
from Laurie Shea, Jay Hitt, and Dave Pahanish. Can't help but get
better!
Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks,
Dave Graham
Hi Dave,
Glad to hear your coffee house is doing so well. I checked out the
area where your church is and it's sort of far from where I live but I
would like to come and check out the coffee house sometime.
I went to the radio station and was able to listen using winamp
player. I couldn't figure out how to listen to the exact song you
play though. Do I just wait and listen to the words to figure out
when your song comes on?
Maybe I'm doing something dumb : )

Hi,
Our last cofeehouse went great. We have a mix of board games early,
and music later, and snacks all around. Cross-Linked have a great
sound.
Just started another new project. My friend Mark Stroup and I have
started a Pgh acoustic Internet radio station. The idea is to play
music by acoustic performers around Pgh (whether Christian or not),
to let Pittsburgers know what they can go hear in person.
The station is up and running at
http://www.live365.com/stations/daveg12 ,
although it doesn't have a huge selection of Pgh artists yet.
But more are joining in each day.
You will have to download the 365Live player to listen. Also,
as a listener, you can choose to listen for free with ads, or
pay to listen without ads. Somebody got to pay the electric
bill.
Give it a listen, and tell me what you think. Of course, with
the rate we are adding artists, February will be a much fuller
listen than January. Currently, Grant Van Leuven is the only
full-time Pgh Christian guitarist on the station, but there
are some other Christian songs mixed in.
Dave Graham
Hi Dave,
Nice to have you. Thanks for sharing.
That coffeehouse sounds like a really cool idea.
Our church considered doing that. It hasn't taken off yet though.

Hi, Bob 'n all,
Just joining.
My name is David Graham, I am a Christian acoustic singer/songwriter.
I live in Brentwood (South Hills). I am 44, and father of two boys.
You can see more about me at home.comcast.net/~DavidBGraham,
and about my chuch at www.spencerumc.org .
Yeah, I know, I should get some songs on the web site. Working on it.
My current project is the coffeehouse held at my church the first
Friday of each month. The next one is January 2, 2004, featuring the
band Cross-Linked.
I am mostly self-taught. I had a great high school teacher who taught
music theory. I took a liking to it. That didn't help my guitar
playing, though, which was pretty awful for a lot of years. About
five years ago, I figured it was time to work on it, and I'm a lot
better now.
I play guitar and bass for my church. I also fool around with fiddle,
keyboard, mandolin, harmonica, and wx5. I definitely lean toward
acoustic sounds, but I am not afraid to use an electric instrument to
sound acoustic. I like upbeat stuff, like bluegrass and western swing.
Merry Christmas!
Dave
Greetings in His name,
I'm Chris. I'm a Christian and I live near Pittsburgh (Evans
City). I belong to a Christian Vocal Ensemble called "One Voice."
We're a type of choir that does concerts throughout the Pittsburgh
area.
Basically, the One Voice Christian vocal ensemble is a group of men
and women from various denominational backgrounds who have come
together to present a very intense worship service. We do both a
Lenten and an Advent concert, all focused on the life and ministry
of Jesus Christ, and proclaiming the Gospel in Scripture and song.
We've been around for about 12 or 13 years now. I've been in the
group for the last 5 years. It's a really wonderful worship
experience, and a beautiful ministry.
I'm writing because we're currently very much in need of singers of
ALL parts. If you or anyone you know is a Christian who likes to
sing, we would be MORE THAN grateful to hear from you. The age
limit is 17 and up, the music is primarily contemporary Christian
and some traditional pieces which have been especially arranged for
the group. We rehearse on Sunday evenings from 6 - 9PM at Grace
Episcopal Church in Mt. Washington.
We also try to schedule a retreat once or twice a year (if people's
schedules permit, of course). All of our concerts are also on
Sundays at various churches throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area.
It is a really wonderful way to glorify His name and Word thru
music. It is also a really wonderful fellowship.
So, if anyone is interested, or if you know anyone who would be
interested: you can visit our website at
http://www.nauticom.net/www/kucharik/onevoice.htm for more info. Or
you can feel free to email ME at meowmix_in_da_hood@....
I very much hope to hear from you!!
God bless your day,
Chris =)
On October 21st, 2003 the new Steven Curtis Chapman DVD
"Live Out Loud"
will be released.
Can't wait!
