Britney
Spears won’t be the only comeback kid at this year’s MTV Video Music
Awards. Pint-sized powerhouse Christina Aguilera will be on hand for a
live performance at the 25th annual ceremony, airing Sunday.
“I’m very excited,” Christina said with glee at a press conference at Paramount
Studios in L.A. “This
will be his first time watching me perform on television, but only for
a little while because he’s not really allowed to watch television yet.
I’ll make an exception for the VMAs.”
“That kid is going to grow up with a hell of an Oedipus complex!” British
comedian Russell Brand, who will host this year’s ceremony, joked of Aguilera’s
eight-month-old tyke, Max.
The Grammy Award-winning singer will debut her new single “Keep Getting
Better,” also the title of her forthcoming Greatest Hits album, Sunday night.
“You’re going to get a first look and a first listen at my new image and my new
sound,” Christina told reporters. “The last album, the style and sound was about
vintage glam - this one is all about the future.”
