HI all,

a few years a go I spent some time learning venharis, is fun to play with,
great graphics, and, as I can recall (ram is almost full), the music it
generated was also great

besy

jacky

Even if you create nothing at all, it is fun just to cruise through the
3D environment! I think Phil T. was ahead of the times when he created
Venharis.

Standard Libraries / standards in general - I thank God everyday that
Microsoft does not make industrial hardware. Instead of things being 10mm,
15mm and 20mm you'd also have to account for 10.2288787872mm and 11.2278mm
Nuts and bolts!

Phil J.

If you run it and do see the graphics, you'll be fine from then on in.
Have patience though, the interface is quite crazy at first glance -
although if you take the effort to learn what each bit does, I think
it's very easy to pilot. You'll eventually realise that my choice of a
3D interface with crystals and little aliens wasn't just frivolous
decoration either - 3D was needed to show "totems" or stacks of
crystals (math to music streams) that all operate in parallel from one
fractal coordinate - something you can't really show as logically in a
2D display - and the alien musicians were a nice representation of 16
midi channels. So there was a lot of method to the madness, so to
speak...

Hi all:

The link to "Phil Jackson" that appears in the last mails, are links to coach
websites... Hmm... Is it coincidence? Is the same person? Is it a joke? We must
develop a conspiracy theory? Is it an encrypted message? Are some of my
suspicions real? ... Or it is I who do not exist?

Hi Jacky & all:

"Indivisible" is a very interesting tune, with a sound like Stravinsky. I
enjoyed the clarity of the instruments. Thanks for the links.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to catch up with all the posted music...
Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to giv serious listens to each.

Did anyone catch the pink floyd reunion at live 8. I'll be honest, I
respect them, and like what they've done, but got tired of the drama.
The performance was astounding! And they were all grinning from ear to
ear the whole time. I loved it!!

Anyone else catch it??

I have to fight with the daughter over possession of the CD of their

Hi to all,

Don´t know if this is like a project, but it would be so very interesting to
hear quartets from our members on the Florestan strings, It would be great
if the Dare was taken… just a thought. Love to hear something from Paul
Whalley and Steve Hopper… A kaleidoscpe of the different sensiblities and
personalities. Coherence in sound (same base soundfont) would give great
unity to a collection of pieces.

Are you guys up to the task? :-)

Marcel,

There is a free version of Quaderno that runs on PC with the Stealth
emulator, the details of this are better knowned by Space Ace: Tim Conrardi,
he actually has all the softwares for this in his Atari Midi World.

Hi Paul & all,

I used the second option, although in some pieces substituted the violin for
the viola, that sounded better to me (with the violin register though).
Jacky used the same orchestration (it seems) but had a different violin
sound (¿?). The Florestan strings include the 4 string instruments. The
Florestan String Soundfont can be downloaded here Paul:

http://oui.com.br/n/download.php?list.2

If you fine something better (soundfont), it´s OK with me (and let us know)
, I,m glad you seem interested…

Diego.

Hi Diego, all,

I used the florestan violin, viola and cello, and another violin sf,

jacky

Hi Paul & all,

I used the second option, although in some pieces substituted the violin for
the viola, that sounded better to me (with the violin register though).
Jacky used the same orchestration (it seems) but had a different violin
sound (¿?). The Florestan strings include the 4 string instruments. The
Florestan String Soundfont can be downloaded here Paul:

If you fine something better (soundfont), it´s OK with me (and let us know)
, I,m glad you seem interested…

Diego.

Hi to Jacky and all,

You and Paul are right, #1 is the classical arrangement .:-) It´s fine with
me, just wanted to have all the spectrum, #1 option is a more light and
melodious ensamble i guess.

Now in terms of traditional form are we going to use the sonata form, 3 or 4
movements (allegro – addagio – <minuet> – allegro)? ( that is more complex
though) I would prefer if we kept it simple: just a piece. I already made
them…:-(

It is a string quartet though. Just a single basic timbre, so we can
concentrate on expresion and form… And if we use the same musicians
(soundfonts) it will give it coherence soundwise, maybe.

My 0.2 cents.

Serious stuff guys ! Are we up to the challange? :-)

Diego.

Hello all!
This was a piece I've been sitting on for a while, meant as a jazz
improv piece. I guess this is an exercise mostly on the drum track.
I've been tweeking my drum samples & managed to crop a decent drum roll
(snare).
The piece was done in Tapestry. I combined the drums tracks into one,
and set the all the note lengths to a 32nd note (on the drum tracks).
Then I created another drums track from fairly standard midi jazz drum
files, sporatically placing & changing. I set the note lengths the same
as the other, then combined & removed dupes. On the drum rolls, if
there were two notes next to each other, I made the first one a drum
roll. It's a bit hap-hazard of a method, but it works. The tracks were
rendered in Hypersonic, Trilogy, & Battery. I used Sonar's build it
Lexicon VST for the reverb...

Peace,
Dave

Hi to all,

Jacky..

It looks like Fractal Tune Smithy is micro tonal, I hear some of this in
your last quartet.. very interesting, it gives a natural touch to it.

Is FTS used in real time ?

Appreciate your comments on the software…

Best,

Diego.

Hi Diego, all,

yes, FTS is micro tonal, I really like this soft, it has many many fun
features like playing from the (pc) keyboard, mouse theremin, a lot of
different tunings (scale divisions), and a hundred or so menus with
features..., I think the author of this program is on the list, he's a kind
person and I think he could answer many questions regarding this wonderful
software.

you can download it here---> http://robertinventor.com/index.htm
