May I suggest Mindy Smith? She is not the guitar vituoso that Bruce
represents, but she has some talented musicians backing her up. She
has the most incredible voice I have heard in ages and the themes of
her songs should resonate with the Cockburn enthusiast. I have her
debut CD and also Long Island Shores, but I recommend her debut album
among the two. Also in the same vein, I got a real kick out of
GIllian Welch's first two CD's with the remarkable accompanying
guitarist David Rawlins.
Like you, I seek other musicians like COckburn but it seems there are
precious few that have both the guitar skills combined with the
melodic and profoud song writing abilities. Alas!
