Greetings:
There's all sorts of interesting news at The Cockburn Project and
thanks to the tireless Bobbi Wisby we now have all the lyrics from
You've Never Seen Everything up and ready for reading at:
http://www.cockburnproject.net/albums/youveneverseeneverything.html
Special thanks to True North for getting that information to us so we
could get it to you. Here's what Bruce has to say about the new
album:
April 2003
"We're confronted with great darkness as a species right now, as
spiritual creatures on this planet. I don't think it's
hopeless, and
I don't want this album to make people feel hopeless. But I think
we've got to call a spade a spade."
"You look at war and environmental problems and you look at
what's causing them and what's preventing us from solving them and the
trail always leads to human greed. Somebody's getting paid to keep it
that way or make it worse. Everyone's wondering what it all means and
what we can do about it."
"What I see happening in the face of all this darkness is something
new in human spirituality, openness, some sense of our common
destiny. We've got to keep nudging ourselves in the direction of
good
and respect for each other."
-- from Bruce Cockburn's bio on Rounder Records.
True North sent these new tourdates along and those of you in western
North America will be dancing for joy tonight:
Aug 02 Seattle WA Meany Performance Hall
Aug 04 Nanaimo BC Port Theatre
Aug 05 Victoria BC Royal Theatre
Aug 06 Vancouver BC Vogue Theatre
True North tells us that Open was the #1 most added song at the Adult
Album Alternative format in the US in it's first week of release!
Check our Bruce Friendly Radio page for more station updates, and
remember to call your local stations and tell them to play more
Bruce!
And if you are interested in hearing some soundbites of the new
material visit:
http://www.rounder.com/feature/cockburn/ Rounder's also set up to
accept pre-orders if you are interested in pre-ordering You've Never
Seen Everything.
And last but not least you can hear the new version of 'It's Going
Down Slow' at www.brucecockburn.com. The Cockburn Project previewed
the new lyrics for that tune and you can check them out at:
http://www.cockburnproject.net. You'll want to check that out anyway
because there are all sorts of updates on the front page.
One last note, I heard from a reader in the Windy City who was one of
the lucky ones to see Bruce in Chicago last night at a special WXRT
show at Wise Fool's Pub. XRT was taping this snow for an upcoming
promo for Bruce's new release. She reports that Bruce was in fine
form and played a selection of tunes from the new album along with a
couple old favorites. I'd suggest checking out http://www.wxrt.com
to find out when that'll be playing.
That's it for this issue....more to come!
Peace,
Suzanne Myers
