Greetings:
There was a new date announced by True North today:
NOV 7 DALLAS TX GYPSY TEA ROOM
I know of at least one reader who will rejoice at this news! True
North also forwarded this press release regarding the upcoming North
American tour:
BRUCE COCKBURN NORTH AMERICAN TOUR ANNOUNCED FOR FALL, WITH STOPS IN
NEW YORK, TORONTO, MONTREAL, BOSTON, AND PHILADELPHIA
Toronto ON (September 30, 2003) Bruce Cockburn returns from a
successful two-month European tour to begin the second leg of his
North American tour --kicking off in Lebanon New Hampshire on October
21st, with shows in Toronto, Montreal, New York, Boston and an
appearance on Mountain Stage, a nationally syndicated U.S. radio show
to follow.
True North Records released Cockburnıs critically acclaimed Youıve
Never Seen Everything in June, it is the multi-talented and
internationally renowned singer-songwriterıs 27th release and first
full-length studio album since his JUNO Award winning Breakfast in
New Orleans Dinner in Timbuktu. It features guest appearances by
Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Sarah Harmer, and Sam Phillips and
was co-produced by Cockburn and Colin Linden.
Born in Ottawa in 1945, Cockburn set his sights on a career in music
after growing up listening to Elvis records. He landed at Berklee
College of Music in Boston in the early 60s, but found he was too
restless to settle into studies of jazz guitar and composition and in
1965 he moved back to Ottawa to play in a series of rock nı roll
bands. Cockburn eventually found his voice as a songwriter drawing
upon instinctive spirituality, a keen eye for detail, and a wry sense
of humor. By then he had also developed a highly personal finger
picking guitar style that merged Mississippi John Hurt blues with
modal jazz harmony as well as melodic lyricism and cycling rhythms
that suggested an ear for Indian, Asian, and African music. Twenty-
seven albums later, Cockburn continues to redefine himself musically
and is widely recognized for his compelling songwriting, innovative
guitar playing, and social content of his songs.
"Spoken-word tracks, eerie guitar runs and world music influences add
layers to Cockburnıs stripped-down roots folk, as do a dead-on rhythm
section and simply gorgeous backing vocals a great accomplishment.

NOW Magazine
"Cockburn has enjoyed the sort of career singer-songwriters with
integrity can only dream about..."
LOS ANGELES DAILY NEWS
"With cameos from Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne and Sam Phillips,
the singing is first-rate, but what really dazzles is the playing,
from the sinuous, Talking Heads-style multiculti groove of "Tried and
Tested" to the jazzy, harmonica-spiked "Don't Forget About Delight."

BLENDER
"One of the most intelligent and consistently innovative songwriters
in North America."
