Greetings!
We are finally beginning to enjoy some true spring weather in the
Northeast (US) so I hope it is the same for the rest of you in this
hemisphere!
We are currently running a very special feature over at The Cockburn
Project highlighting the handwritten copy of the convocation speech
that Bruce made at the graduation of St. Thomas University, 10 May
1999. You can read the whole speech in Bruce's own hand or read the
transcribed version. We'd like to thank Wilfred Langmaid for
contributing both the article and the speech. We're also beginning
to feature a series of Wilfred's reviews beginning back in the 80's
in a new feature we are calling: One Man's View.
Today True North offers these juicy tidbits:
Bruce Cockburn will be present when Alex Colville [artist] is
inducted to Canada's Walk of Fame on May 28th. For those who don't
know Alex Colville did the cover painting on the Night Vision album.
[Check out the Album section at The Project for Night Vision. We
have a reproduction of the actual painting and a rather in-depth
article about the painting and the artist]
There are two new Cockburn shows to announce... White Ribbon concert
in Toronto and a US date in Reno NV
June 4th Toronto ON Phoenix
July 1st Reno NV Hawkins Amphitheater
Watch for a feature on the upcoming Spirit Concert (May 18th) and
Bruce's connections with the Haida People written by editor Audrey
Pearson.
The Spirit Concert will be held on May 18th at the Chan Centre,
Vancouver BC. Tickets are available through
http://www.ticketmaster.ca and CBC TV will tape the concert for
future broadcast.
That's all for now!
Peace,
Suzanne Myers
